== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Darkceo: So far my experience has been nice with galaxy, the only thing is that i dont know if its related i have witcher 3 on gog, and for some reason the achievements are not unlocking, so i wonder if its a beta problem or if im the only one with that problem.
I've just checked our live sats and there are achievements being unlocked every second or so as I type this... Just to double check before submitting the bug further

1. Are you using the latest version of Galaxy Client (it's 1.0.5)?
2. Are you logged in in the Client with your GOG account?
3. Are you online when playing TW3 (it's not necessary to unlock achievement, but you have to launch the game when being logged in and online for achievements to sync)
4. do you launch TW3 using the PLAY button in Galaxy?
5. by saying that avhievements are not unlocking to you mean that inside the Client on TW3 page all achievements under your user name are greyed out? (keep in mind there is no in-game achievement overlay available yet)

if the answer is yes to all the questions, it would be great if you could please submit the bug to our mantis.gog.com bugtracker together with the Client logs (see first sticky post) so that we can investigate further.

Do you have active downloads while playing? I had the same problems as long as I didn't stop downloading in the background, either a game from GOG or iTunes.
Friend invite, how can you do this?

Well... except for those who create special topis just for that (and I think it's kinda spamy), you can always turn your wishlist to public and send your friend the link - then all he needs to do is move his cursor on your avatar and click "Add friend".

AlBQuirky: Is it just me, or do others think that Galaxy does not "synch" very well with GOG.com?

Just now, I came to GOG.com to check out the boards. I notice I have "2 new updates" for my games. Cool! Let's get Galaxy up and running.

Well, according to the website, Legend of Grimrock and To The Moon have updates or me. According to Galaxy, all is fine and dandy, ie: "Nothing new to see here. Move along." I do not see any updates in my library. Am I missing something? Is Galaxy working in the background? I do not see any "activity" going on in Galaxy.
avatar
JudasIscariot: To The Moon had a bonus content update and Legend of Grimrock had the Linux version updated.

Galaxy has a changelog feature and that will let you know what was updated :)
OK. I feel silly now. I did see the content update but did not realize the Linux version was Grimrock's update. How do I find Galaxy's changelog? I am not seeing where that is. Is it Galaxy wide or for each individual game?

Each game gets its own changelog. You can see this by hovering to right of the play button and you'll see the game's version pop up along with a link to the changelog :)

I just submited the bug and indeed it's yes to all of them, so hopefully this can be resolved.
Hoping they improve the friends system soon.

- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- games installed in Galaxy alpha 0.6 that included DLC may require a full game reinstall in the beta
- reinstalling Galaxy (Windows) to a different folder than the initial install will cause an error
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer
- DPI scaling beyond 100% is nor respected on Windows (Client UI will be very small or 4k screens)

Last time I played I was doing all of this too and achievements would not unlock, it been a few weeks though. I'll jump on soon and if it's still like this I will also submit my logs.

Looks like there are already plenty of people reporting this though already:

I also have several achievements that did not unlock at all although I did in fact complete the requirements, some of which can be verified by completed quests in-game, but the corresponding achievement never got set. There are at least 4 or 5 in The Witcher 3 that failed to set for me although I posted about this in the thread a while back already.

warpax: i dont mind downloading asnd updating my games through Galaxy but does it have to hijack all my shortcuts so games can only be ran using Galaxy? Id rather not have Galaxy running all the time.
I would like to be able to do this too.

There are actually games on Steam where you can do this -- where the publisher/developer took the option of making it DRM-free once you've installed it through Steam (ex: Far Cry 2).
Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but I have a question.

I've got The Witcher 1 installed from the files on the site and the version numbers match. When I go to import the folder into Galaxy, it tries to redownload the entire 13gb worth of files. I'm on a very slow connection, so the idea that I have to redownload that amount (plus the 22gb for Witcher 2 and however big W3 is when I finally get it installed off of the discs) is not settling very well with me. Is this working as intended or is there some way around having to get the entire game again?

It's been doing this with other games that are also up to date already as well.
