== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

When are we getting a "Download all extras" button in Galaxy, like the one you can use when downloading through the GOG Downloader? Right now it's very tedious to click on one of the extras, wait a few seconds for the download bar on the left to appear and disappear, and then click on the next extra in the list. There's not even any point to making the download bar appear, it just slows slows down the client (especially when you're downloading a lot at once).
avatar
Grargar: Does it say "Not yet available" or "Not compatible"? If it does, then the game isn't currently supported by Galaxy and you'll need to download and install it manually.
avatar
JayBDD: That's the strange thing - I was able to download and install the game via GOG Galaxy just fine, but when I try to launch it from GOG Galaxy, nothing happens - no error message or anything like what you described.
Try exiting Galaxy, then bringing up the task manager and making sure no processes are running still that have "galaxy" in the name. Then start it up again and try to start the game. That works sometimes. If you still can't start the game you could either try uninstalling and reinstalling Galaxy and importing your games and trying again, and if it still doesn't work I'd make note of it here and file a bug report at mantis.gog.com. When you do, post a link to the bug here and others can try to reproduce it and add additional feedback so they can tell whether it is an isolated incident or common.

Hope this helps.

billybob2010: could be somewhere in the 91 pages, not sure, but why is it that each time there is an update, I have to manually re add all the games one at a time by import folder option, why are they just still not installed like steam
Do you mean when there is an update to GOG Galaxy client? If so, that is odd. Is it auto-updating itself or are you manually uninstalling it and reinstalling the new one? I encountered this issue during the alpha phase a few times but since the beta has come out I haven't had that happen.

Also, did you install your games originally with Galaxy, or did you install them with the downloadable installers. If the latter, were the downloaded installers old or did you download them fresh and install the latest one at the time you installed? I ask because old installers do not contain Galaxy metadata information so Galaxy is unaware they're there until you do a manual import. Having said that, I was under the impression that doing an import causes Galaxy to create those metadata files itself for the installed games so it should detect them automatically after that.

One thing you can try, is to back up your savegames and your game installation directory to a zip file in a safe location preferably on another drive or something, then uninstall Galaxy client and manually delete the Galaxy directories under C:\Program Files and C:\ProgramData or wherever you had them instlaled, then reinstall the latest version manually. I have done this a couple of times and it has made various Galaxy bugs/problems go away, which suggests to me that their install/uninstall/upgrade process is not yet polished and I have the impression that it leaves some "old version" turds laying around that the "new version" ends up mixing and matching files between the multiple releases, and uninstalling and manually purging the stuff gives a clean slate. That's what it appears like to me anyway, and it has definitely solved a multitude of issues for me in the past so worth a shot.

Hope this helps.

There hasn't been a "download all extras" button for GOG Downloader since the website was redesigned, at least none that I'm able to find. Instead all of the individual links are available for download via Downloader for the last 2 months or so.

Having said that, I agree that having a single link to click on both in Galaxy and on the website for Downloader would be very nice to have. I think they got rid of this option however because they've changed the way language packs are handled, and now they appear as game extras for many games such as The Witcher 3 for example. Including the language packs as extras would mean an extra 4+GB of downloading for The Witcher 3 and probably similar wastage for other games too at least for people who don't want anything but English or some other single language. I suppose they could do it and leave language packs separate but then someone out there will complain that language packs are an extra but not downloaded automatically when you click the "download everything" button. :)

Someone wrote a script called gogrepo.py or something like that which can be used to automate downloading everything for your games, might want to check that out. Avoids needing GOG to do anything. Self-empowerment FTW!

;o)
Any clues people? I shut down, restarted and still get to exactly 99.5 "installing" where it hung an hour ago. Exact same place. Thanks.

This sort of thing seems to happen to certain people either very often or always, and others never. It seems to be almost one way or the other, which makes me wonder if there is a common element that triggers the problem for people, such as a particular ISP, country, particular firewall settings, blocking ICMP and breaking PMTUD or some other common factor.

Has anyone who has encountered this problem ever managed to figure out a solution, and if so what was it?

I know some people have had problems with Avast Antivirus thinking everything is a virus overzealously from GOG, and disabling it while downloading solved the problem, but I haven't seen any other common factors (and I've never encountered the issue myself). Would be nice to see if those who encounter the issue could post what OS they're using, what antivirus+firewall and other security software, whether they're behind a proxy or not, whether they're on cable or DSL, dialup or something else and what their MTU is, what country they're in, what ISP, and other factors.

Would be interesting to see some statistics to see if there is a common thing our Witcher senses can detect before seeking out the red footprints into the woods to slay the beast.

In your browser, go to your GOG library, click on a game, then on "More", and then "GOG Downloader Links". At the bottom, there's a "download all goodies" link.

And thanks for the gogrepo link, I'll check that out.
Update this week? Yes, no, maybe? ... The communication is starting to get less and less. Please communicate Galaxy devs.

Can you start it from the exe? If not try looking in the game folder for a _redist folder. Galaxy has issues with not installing these when it should if it's not already on your system. It might not have one though, some do... some don't.

Most likely you will need to file a report on mantis though...

So the beta has been out for nearly 2 months now. Why aren't changelogs available yet?

Oh cool, that wasn't there last I checked or I missed it. It's not prominent though either. :) It is great to see that it has returned though as many people were miffed that it vanished in the site revamp.

Thanks for cluing me in on that!

I've been getting a bit of a "no news is good news" vibe myself although I can understand your feelings also. :)

My gut instinct tells me they're working on some bigger additions to the client and that they want to both polish them off much more before release and hopefully fix many other broken things and fulfill some feature requests and existing bug reports this time around more en-masse. They haven't said that of course, but I am channeling their energy. :)

If I'm correct (and I hope I am), this could be quite good overall. Sometimes holding back communication temporarily can be a good thing too, so I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt on that one for the time being. :) The longer the next update takes though the greater everyone's expectations are likely to be too, both in terms of features and quality control.

Personally I hope the delay is due to both features and quality control, but we'll have to wait and see.

What features and fixes are the most important to everyone currently? The biggest things on my radar currently are:

- I really really want a GOG client overlay with screenshot and FPS counter capability, the two main things I use Steam to launch my GOG games for right now.

- Improvements to the user interface download queue view and interactions.

- Ability to pause downloads (for other people, I don't care so much myself but it is a hot item others want)

- Integrated way to search for and add new friends to the contact list directly in the client as well as the website UI without having to start "add me" threads in the forums.

- Ability to change the sorting of messages in the chat to be able to see unread messages on top, as well as the ability to avoid seeing people on the friend list who are not actually "friends" but whom are just someone you've received a message from some time before. The current client wants to tell me who all is online that I've ever spoken to even once and put them on the top of the list causing things I actually care about to be buried and impossible to find. I've never received any PMs from anyone ever since the new system went in place which I was able to find and read.

- Changelog for the Galaxy client that pops up on screen when the old client detects an update is available and/or when you upgrade to the new client - or both. Much like Steam client beta does, it's very useful.

- GOG.com user profiles with fine grained privacy controls over what parts of one's profile can be seen by "friends", "public", or individuals or groups, and an interface with which to make friend groupings/lists not unlike Facebook has. Ability to control who can see not only your wishlist with more fine grain, but also allow to share your owned-games list and to be able to make custom lists of both owned games and unowned games (kind of like Mixes but more useful). Ability to post status messages on your profile, and just be more social networkish overall for the profile side of things. Yes, some people don't want or care about that "crap", but many others do and it's not something anyone will be forced to use, but many will appreciate being able to opt into having and I'm one of them. :)

- Switch from a hierarchical navigation on game's pages in Galaxy to a flat list of meta-options. This means getting rid of "More" and it's tree based menu structure with buried options that aren't in the most intuitive place or wording and replacing it with a single flat list of things that appear directly on the game page itself alongside "Play", ie:

[Play] [Downloads] [Manuals/documentation] [DLC] [Store page] [Properties] etc... no submenus, and everything worded in the most intuitive language that will appeal to the masses.

That's just a short list of some of the more important things to me anyway, feel free to suggest your own lists! :)

Galaxy updates itself, and I installed all the games from withing Galaxy, just when they do an update, it wants me to install them all again, and I have to go into manage directory and then manually add them all again. However I was half way through and it did another update, and once again wiped them all. So it is keeping my games, but just not recognise them as being installed

That is a bizarre issue. I've got nonstandard directories too, but no issues.
