1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

I think a big pop-up window Walk away if you have no clue what <span class="bold">BETA</span> means. before BETA Galaxy installation could be a way of handling this.

Tarnicus: Except that Galaxy is a piece of shit Alpha not Beta. Even the page you linked clearly states that "Beta phase generally begins when the software is feature complete but likely to contain a number of known or unknown bugs". Galaxy is far from feature complete. I wouldn't have half the issues I do with GOG if they hadn't fucked up manual downloading to make it far more cumbersome or fucked up the PM system by introducing chat.

Maybe instead of a pop-up saying "Walk away if you have no clue what BETA means" it should state "Walk away if you don't want to alpha test poorly coded software with numerous bugs that is far from feature complete unless you are an arse-licking fan-boy of GOG."
After they got online with galaxy, I deinstalled Galaxy beta from my PC. This client is not ready to go public at all. It's still a beta version, that dowmloads masses of data for no obvious reasons.

Wait untill they have finished it.

BKGaming: I'm not a 20 year old kid by any means, so who is putting their foot in their mouth now? The answer I linked you worked for people that have this issue, so if you did it right and still have this issue then you going to have to wait for a GOG fix. I repeat this is BETA software. You are essentially testing it.

Don't make stupid comments and you won't get called out for it. If you really believe the costumer is always right then boy are you in for a rude awakening. What are you 5 years old?

Need more info, did you install in the same place as before? Can you press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC OR CTRL + ALT + DELETE and run task manager after you try to start Galaxy and see if any Galaxy process are running in the background?
avatar
stika: Hi there, thank you for the reply. No, I installed it in a different drive. When I use the task manager I can't seem to find GOG Galaxy anywhere.
Hmm, I'm wondering if it has to do with essential components error but your not getting the error. As that normally happens when people re-install to a different location.

Uninstall again and try doing this:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_starts_now_e5bf1/post925

It could be that parts of Galaxy are simply being left over after the uninstall causing you issues... It which you may need to run a program to clean up your PC.

I do agree with you that generally BETA's are feature complete, but as it clearly states generally. It's really up to whoever is making the software to label it as they want. GOG has decided they have the minimal number of features to call this software BETA.

Having said that, I run Galaxy on 3 different PC's with 3 different OS's (Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 10)... I have had almost no issues. I do get a hard drive access error when downloading every now and then (especially on large games), but generally it's very stable. Performance could use an improvement as it generally get's slower with the more games you have installed but I imagine that will improve with time. There are a few graphical issues on Windows 10 but that's not even supported yet, so that's to be expected.

You have to remember that almost 700,000 people are running the Galaxy beta right now because of the Witcher 3 (more if you include those just running it in general), and of that we have just over 1000 open bug reports. This really isn't a lot compared to how many have access and shows that many people are using the client just fine (even if we take into account potential people who have issues and don't report them).

~sorry for the rage post, I just need to wait for galaxy to leave beta~

Haven't tried any games yet but had no problems with purchasing through the Galaxy. So that's a basic feature that works for me with my experience so far with Galaxy.

Would like to suggest a feature though. The ability to change viewing size and font size. Reading content on the community page in Galaxy is difficult and eye straining because of the tiny font size and the colour theme.
Are you guys rewriting code or something?
I mean I'm not an expert, but releasing update once 2 months or even less often is a bit strange, especially when galaxy is missing many features and is full of issues.

They have actually been updating about every week, granted they have been small bug fixes... ect. They have a lot of features to still put in and this is going to take time. I believe we will be getting something soon though.
Is anyone else having trouble getting the Galaxy client to connect today? It just keeps telling me it encountered an error during login.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad to know it's not something going wrong on my end.

Indeed! Thanks :)
It's been a while since we had a Galaxy update... I've got a gut feeling that the next update will bring some long sought after features and functionality and that they're putting extra effort into it to smooth and polish it a bit this time around. Anyone else getting that sort of vibe? :)
I just noticed that the standalone Arcanum installer is at gog version 2.0.0.15, whereas the galaxy updated Arcanum is gog version 2.1.0.16. The game binaries have changed between the two. The one installed by galaxy is unplayable in wine, it seems, whereas the other continues to work flawlessly. If GOG is going to claim that Galaxy is optional, I think they should at least make sure the separately downloadable installers match up with what Galaxy is installing..

Side note, does anyone know if there's a way to tell Galaxy to not install redists? Is it installing them when it runs the galaxy_<game> installer from the galaxy application data, or at first play the way steam does? With steam, there are registry entries used to keep track of which have been installed, and it's possible to generate a .reg from the installscript.vdf to make it think they've already been installed.
Hey GoG? You might want to make it so that playing a game on Galaxy DOESN'T block messages from Steam chat and the like. Seriously, it completely freezes any messages you might receive from your friends on Steam, so it's only when you leave the game that you'll hear the sound queue, the messages pop-out and you'll realize that your friend tried to tell you something half an hour ago, got annoyed when you didn't answer and now is a little miffed at you.

Please fix this, it can ruin friendships :p.
Does anybody has an idea how to backup all my games easily?

I DONT want to click on each game!
...I dont want do this for the first download and even less for all updates/update checks!
And also I want to download all extras in a subdir in the game download directory.
And if possible I would like to download game pics as well.

How can I do this best???
Is there a script (Perl, Powershell, VB,...) out there anywhere?

Many thanks in advance.
