Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

elgonzo: Probably some of the prerequisites installed required a reboot.
avatar
WereCatf: Considering that the game ran fine already before I imported it and all those redists have been installed by the bajillion Steam - games I have already a bajillion different times: no, I cannot see any reason why they would all of a sudden require a reboot.

avatar
elgonzo: However, just to be certain: Did it really reboot, or did it just crash and resetting the computer?
avatar
WereCatf: I do know the difference between a crash and a reboot; yes, it rebooted normally. There was the Windows 8 screen saying "System restarting" and all.
That's quite bizarre. I totally missed that you were importing the game and not installing it. Why would Galaxy even need to download and install prerequisites when doing a game import? o.O

Anyway, since this is what the client did, the only thing i can think of right now that would make any lick of sense is that at least one of redistributable packages downloaded and installed by Galaxy for whatever reason was not yet present on your system (either the respective was not installed yet, or installed as a different, older version perhaps). It still would not excuse automatic reboot without confirmation... (it could be handy to have a setting for allowing automatic reboots when automatic updates are turned off or scheduled by the user, but the client should not do a reboot automatically without confirmation as default...)

As said, I use this same PC to play games installed via Steam and Grimrock itself also ran perfectly fine and without issue and I have not reinstalled this PC in more than a year so I do find it highly unlikely that any of the redists would've been missing. And Steam manages to install them without reboots needed.

Personally, I believe that either Galaxy doesn't handle the redists' return values properly or doesn't pass all the arguments to them properly. I did look at the bug tracker and it seems some other people are having the same issue too with different games.
All of a sudden GOG Galaxy disconnected from GOG and although I keep clicking the connect button it will not connect. Anybody else have this happen?
test
If I try to install Outlast it goes to 100%, but after that it displays message installation broken. Even though I see Outlast desktop icon. And I can start game. But I don't know if everything works later in game since I haven't played much.

File a bug report in Mantis. Details are in the blue sticky first post of this thread.
Perhaps there is already a bug report about your problem filed, so you might first want to search Mantis for such a bug report...

If you encounter game problems due to a corrupted installation, you could still download the game installer and re-install the game without Galaxy.

sdlotu: MAC USERS: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THE GALAXY BETA
I'm afraid this is a problem on the Windows version as well. GOG missed over 100 games from my library, presumably for the reasons Fallen_Zen mentioned above.

The only way to get them in is the Import feature, which is trash. You click on the page in the browser, click More, click Import Existing Files, navigate to the files (god forbid the client remember what folder you were using last time, you have to start from root every single time), wait for the internet to confirm every file in your library, and then suffer through hundreds of megabytes worth of downloading even if the game is 100% up-to-date. For every. Single. Game.

It's a nightmare.

I don't know if anybody else has come across this yet, but with large collections (250+ games) Galaxy seems to grind to a halt, especially when trying to install multiple titles. The client for me got stuck loading all the images and everything, had to do a hard shutdown of Galaxy.

esieens: For the Mac client, what is the best way to use it in a multi-user environment, I.e. I'd like to be able to share my game library with my children who all have their own user account on the Mac.

If this is possible will they share the game saves as well?

Also I did install all my games in the Application folder. Can I move them afterwards through the Galaxy client?

Thanks

Fallen_Zen: Hello,

Currently multi-user environment is not really supported, of course it will be in the future.

As a workaround you can run it by multiple users by logging out everyone from the system except the one that'll be using the client (so you can't use fast user switching). That user will be able to run the client, log in with his own account to Galaxy and play games that were installed by you. Of course he/she won't be able to install games you own, just those that are tied to his/hers account on GOG.

If the game stores saves in the same folder for every user, then of course it will share them. But some of the games may store them in user's home directory, in this situation you'll need to copy them.

As for moving games, you can move it to a different folder manually through Finder, the client will see that as uninstallation but you can use the "Scan & Import" functionality to pull it back to the Galaxy.

Hope that helps!
Thanks for the quick response.

Need some calrification as I'm not sure I follow your proposed solution.

So one of my kids can login on the mac with their own account, start the galaxy client and use their own GOG credentials but still access games that were installed with my mac user and my GOG credentials?

Correct, this is how it "works" now.
Evening.

Normally I am one to read all posts before me, however in this instance (surplus of 80 pages) I will regretfully have to forgo this courtesy!

I noticed that pricing in the GoG Galaxy store did not differentiate my locale, as the website does. That is to say that I see The Witcher 3 for sale at the USD price instead of the AUD price. I am unsure if this is known, I didn't see it in the opening post.

Galaxy did warn me that I would receive store credit in USD and that I already had store credit in another currency and that these would not merge. This was my biggest clue as there is no denotation of currency used in Galaxy, i.e. I don't see A$xxx as I would on the website to tell me it's in AUD.

I have no intention of purchasing it like this as the AUD pricing is competitive on the website (based on current conversion rates), however it would be awesome if Galaxy did detect region as I would like to use Galaxy to purchase directly (particularly when a search feature is implemented haha).

Hopefully this was helpful, keep up the good work.

EDIT-------- Will post this on Mantis, sorry!

EDIT 2----- How foolish! I was not aware that I had to set my location and currency!

ok thanks. Do they have to do a 'scan and import'?

The games' database is shared so no need to import on each account.
I'm writing this post just to able my friend to add me on Galaxy.

You should add the function to search friends by nickname or something.
