== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Lobstercore: I have been having an extremely frustrating problem, ever since galaxy has come out, I've been unable to access any of my gog games. As far as I know, there are three ways to download our games, and since galaxy has come out, none of them work. I've contacted support several times, but their suggestions don't help, are redundant information from the FAQs, or in the case of the last couple messages I've sent, they have simply gone unanswered. So, in desperation I'm coming here to see if anyone can help.

I'm running windows 7, my browser is firefox, if that's relevant. My antivirus is MSE.

The first problem is with the the galaxy client. It is currently version 1.0.2.958. When I start it up, it tries to update itself, but hangs at 2.3 out of 3.0MB, and then says there was an error, but the latest version can be downloaded from gog, but the link offered is the same version I have, 1.0.2.958. When I try to install Witcher 3, (or any other game) a window pops up to accept the EULA, I accept, then is says "getting file list" and after that a quick window pops up simply saying "game not supported, and I'm sent back to my library screen. I have tried uninstalling reinstalling as administrator, nothing works.

The second problem is gog downloader. When I click on a dowloader link, the client pops up, says its initializing, then a few seconds later says "download complete" with a full progress bar, but the dowload folder is empty.

The third method is the one which always used to work for me, even when downloader started having that problem. That is downloading directly from my account page on the gog website. When I try to do so, I simply get a 404, file not found.

I pre-ordered this game months ago, it's been out for weeks now, and I have no way to access it at all. In fact, I can't access any of the hundreds of games in my gog library. I'm trying to stay patient, but it's very frustrating. Is there anyone out there who knows what's happening?
Some users from China have reported the great firewall of China is blocking some of GOG's servers so your only option might be to use a proxy or VPN of some sort to bypass government firewalling. Not much GOG can do about that.

What heck is happening with galaxy? Does anyone else have problems like this?
Where do you have Galaxy installed, and where did you have the game installed?

atrot: Hello, still waiting for real PC release here!
How much more politically correct do you want the release to be?
Please add child / family member sub accounts - of course for members of the same household. My husband has no interest in some of my games (girlie stuff), and I don't "want to see" his... (WWII stuff)

Other games however we both like to play (Grim Fandango, Myst, Dark Fall etc) and it would be nice if our progress could be monitored separately.

Netflix offers this option, please add it to Galaxy as well!

MAC USERS: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THE GALAXY BETA

I cannot see how anyone can or would even want to use this on the Macintosh. It is so much worse than nothing that it can be accurately described as the worst piece of software currently on my computer.

I re-downloaded and updated the Galaxy beta app yesterday. The version is the same as the one installed previously.

Every game shown in the Galaxy app library had to be 'reinstalled', even ones I downloaded a few weeks ago. Galaxy couldn't find even one installation, even though all of them are in the Applications folder. Fine, I point the Galaxy app at the individual game folders one by one and 50GB later the library is 'up to date'.

But wait. There's two dozen games missing from my Galaxy library that are visible in my library shown on GoG.com. I use the magic plus sign to Scan and Import Folders. All 24 games fail, all with the same error: 'Did not find any games to import.' This happens when I point at the exact folder the game executable is in.

Oh, right, it might be the 'old install' problem. So I re-download a game (through GoG downloader, obviously) and install it in Applications. Then I select Scan and Import Folders. Any guesses the result? 'Did not find any games to import'.

So 24 games are missing from Galaxy because the Galaxy app is hopelessly broken, the games cannot be added to Galaxy because the client is hopelessly app, and some games cannot be updated even within the client, because, well, the Galaxy app is broken.

I have already filed a report about this, and my recommendation to Mac users is: Don't bother with the Galaxy app until it is out of beta for a few months at least. It is so much worse than nothing that the developers should apologize and remove the Mac Galaxy app from distribution until it is fixed.

And for those who are already responding with 'What do you expect from a Beta?', my answer is "I should see the exact same items in my library through the Galaxy app that I do through GoG online. If not, I should be able to add the missing items to my library with a trivial amount of effort.'

That's the minimum I expect from a Beta.
For the Mac client, what is the best way to use it in a multi-user environment, I.e. I'd like to be able to share my game library with my children who all have their own user account on the Mac.

If this is possible will they share the game saves as well?

Also I did install all my games in the Application folder. Can I move them afterwards through the Galaxy client?

Thanks

Hello,

Currently multi-user environment is not really supported, of course it will be in the future.

As a workaround you can run it by multiple users by logging out everyone from the system except the one that'll be using the client (so you can't use fast user switching). That user will be able to run the client, log in with his own account to Galaxy and play games that were installed by you. Of course he/she won't be able to install games you own, just those that are tied to his/hers account on GOG.

If the game stores saves in the same folder for every user, then of course it will share them. But some of the games may store them in user's home directory, in this situation you'll need to copy them.

As for moving games, you can move it to a different folder manually through Finder, the client will see that as uninstallation but you can use the "Scan & Import" functionality to pull it back to the Galaxy.

Hope that helps!

Please remember that for the Mac around 50% of the games downloaded from the browser are compatible with the Galaxy, we're in the Beta after all. That's why you're getting the "Did not find any games to import" when scanning for games. I know this is not the perfect scenario but it's not an easy task to make everything compatible on day one.

We're working hard on this one, believe me!

Please install the games from the Galaxy for the time being.

Not surprising, as those aren't available (yet!) on gog..
If you really want to add external games to Galaxy, follow this
I find Galaxy & GOG forums less than intuitive to use, so forgive me if I've missed this but....
Is there some form of GOG &/or Galaxy newsletter?
It seems to me that GOG are a relatively small company attempting quite a large task, and as such, I'm prepared to allow for that, but I like to think that the team are working hard on getting Galaxy up to speed. It would be good, I think, if there was a newsletter to let us all know what the team are working on & when they hope to release updates to Galaxy. You know, just generally keep us up to speed on progress. I feel it would lessen gripes & maybe concentrate the community's attention/feedback on most relevant matters.
Just a thought. :)

Note that Lobstercore is from the Republic Of China, which is also known as Taiwan. It is not Peoples Republic of China (or mainland China), which we in the west usally tend to call "China". Iirc, the Great Firewall does not extend to Taiwan.

While i share the intuition of the other commenters that your issue is network-related, there is still a possibility that the problem is caused by your current system configuration (proxy/VPN settings, malware infection, broken stuff, etc...).

Galaxy client is a Beta version (some say it is still more an Alpha version), so funky things can and do happen with Galaxy client at the time of writing this. Its issues might be related to your other issues with GOG downloader and/or the web download, but it could also merely be due to it being in Beta stage...

Anyway, first and foremost you should try figuring out whether the problem is also occurring with another system which is not comparable to your system configuration and which is in a so-called "known good" state. For most people not being IT experts dealing with non-trivial problems, this generally should always be the first step to eliminate a big chunk of possible causes. Knowing where to look at (in your case either your system configuration or your internet connection) will hopefully help you (as well as other people willing to help) to identify and resolve your issues quicker...

You can use a fresh vanilla Windows installation for testing whether the problem is with your system configuration or with your internet connection. While you might have another computer available for doing this test, it is not recommended, because it is unknown what the system configuration and system condition of that other computer is (unless you are an IT expert and you have set up that other computer by yourself - but then you would not need to seek advice here in the forum...). A fresh vanilla Windows installation is in a "known good" state - it is in a working condition, all relevant system settings are having the default values, and those settings and values are known to or can be looked up by anybody. Additionally, on a vanilla installation you do not install any kind of other 3rd-party software to eliminate the risk of 3rd-party software components interfering and messing with network traffic...

You can create yourself a vanilla Windows installation easily on a USB stick (or SD card) with which you can try downloading from your GOG library. Booting from USB flash media should not be problem unless your motherboard is rather ancient. If you don't know how to create a bootable Windows installation on a USB stick, tools like "Universal USB Installer", "WinToUSB" or "Rufus" will help you. Google for them to obtain more information... (FYI: i run Windows 7 Pro x64, and use Universal USB Installer to create my bootable media. For other Windows versions other tools might perhaps be easier - i don't know - hence my advice to google for information...)

Boot the vanilla OS from the USB stick, use its web browser and try downloading Wasteland 2 from the GOG servers. If it still does not work, the problem is certainly related to your internet connection. It might be an issue with the ISPs involved or with the GOG servers (such as wonky or saturated network routes, overzealous anti-DDoS measures, etc...), but it might also be some defective/misconfigured network hardware (like routers/modems/your network adapter). To find out more, you would need to test and observe whether trying to download other things (both from GOG and from other servers) will lead to errors or file corruption as well.

If the vanilla Windows booted from USB stick does not exhibit the download problems, you know that the issue is with your system configuration and you can focus on that. But just to make sure, as a first step do a download again with your real system again to see if the download still doesn''t work (there is a chance that the problem was caused externally, but disappeared while you were testing - you don't want to chase ghosts, right?).

I had Grimrock installed in a folder via manual download methods and I decided to try out this GoG Galaxy - thing by selecting Grimrock in my library, then choosing "Import folder." Galaxy found the game fine, downloaded redists and stuff and installed something. Then, without any warning whatsoever, it just decided to reboot my PC.

Is it supposed to reboot the PC after installing redists or whatnot without any questions or anything asked, or is it a bug? I mean, just rebooting the system without asking first or anything could mean hours and hours of lost work and all and definitely should not happen.

Probably some of the prerequisites installed required a reboot. But rebooting without asking for confirmation is pretty bad...

However, just to be certain: Did it really reboot, or did it just crash and resetting the computer? A reboot involves a shutdown, which takes some time and shows some shutdown message (i guess) before the computer starts anew. If the computer just restarted instantaneously without a proper shutdown, then a problem happened in one of the core components of the OS from which the system could not recover. Could you specify more precisely whether you witnessed a proper reboot, or a system crash followed by an (automatic) system restart?

Considering that the game ran fine already before I imported it and all those redists have been installed by the bajillion Steam - games I have already a bajillion different times: no, I cannot see any reason why they would all of a sudden require a reboot.

I do know the difference between a crash and a reboot; yes, it rebooted normally. There was the Windows 8 screen saying "System restarting" and all.
