== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

hellogogy: I'd like to run GOG Galaxy under Steam. Usual method doesn't work. Are there any special tweaks like launch options or playing with pathes?

MarkoH01: GOG Galaxy IS a Client just like Steam is. Why would you want to run a Client with another Client? I am sure you can add the games themselves to Steam (as you may add Steam games with future releases of Galaxy - not sure about this though) but I don't think that it will be possible to "add" Galaxy to Steam itself. It would be like adding "Origin" to "Steam". No, I don't think, that this will be possible.
Well I'm looking for all features in one place: Steam overlay and FPS counter+GOG in-game staticstic. I know that I can add game's .exe as non-steam and play with steam overlay but the thing is GOG Galaxy doesn't count achievements and played time while using in DRM-free mode (launching directly with .exe).

As for 'Client with another Client' I can say that I've already succeeded with launching Battle.net client as Non-Steam game. So I'm curious why same thing doesn't work with Galaxy?

Don't know why but I would be glad it they would be able to make Galaxy actually functioning without so many bugs (importing games is buggy as hell - verifying files takes forever, multi-language is still not working correct ect.) before concentrating on such things. Maybe they'll fix this at a later time.

Yeah, I tried to get that to work too but wasn't successful. The best I was able to accomplish was Steam actually launching Galaxyclient instead of the game via proxy through GalaxyClient. If anyone figures that out, do share. :)

Hecke: You really should have waited for the website redesign 'till the beta of galaxy is over and it is going to be released. The current state is a complete mess IMHO.

1. Gifts are now under Orders&Settings and I first have to tick off the selections in a dropdown menu. (Usability Level: Beneath Hell).
2. Getting gog-downloader-links is a pain in the ass, everything seems to be just more clicks away.
3. "Pages" in the Library. Really? At least give me the side selection at the top and not only at the bottom.
4. "Dark"-Theme completely removed?
5. Little icons indication plattforms for the games missing now?
6. Instead of adding the "forum"-link on the game page additionally to the shelf page you now removed it there and put into this dropdown menu.
7. Everything now seems to be grey-in-grey. Missing icons indicating the filetype of a downloaded extra content are also missing.
8. Removed links to the store page for shelf games?

And I'm pretty sure i could add several entries to this list...

Please, before you decide to mess up your website again at least make it optional first until it is finished and not in an half-useable state.
I fully agree. The user guidance has a lot of development potential: many unneeded clicks, to many places with configurations, partly wasted space and missing options (sorting, items per page, 1-click-download/update, install directory etc. pp.)

It's not a matter of wanting to run a client with another client, but rather wanting to have functional screenshot capability and/or FPS counter on-screen and/or video broadcasting and/or any number of other features present in the Steam client which are not yet available in the Galaxy client, but also wanting Galaxy to track your in-game time.

Right now the choices are:
1) Launch with Galaxy and get game time tracking but no screenshots/FPS/video broadcasting/other.
2) Launch with Steam and get screenshots/FPS/video broadcasting/other but no Galaxy game time tracking.
3) Launch witcher3.exe directly and just get the game and none of the client functionality.

I want it all... all I tell you, muahahahahhaha... That's my evil laugh. I'll take over the WORLD with my theories! And I'm completely sane! Muahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... </farting noise>

:)

So, what I tried to do was open up the desktop shortcut GOG installs to see how they launch the game. That invokes GalaxyClient with obscure commandline options to open the game under Galaxy. Tried to incorporate that shortcut's functionality into a custom Steam launcher in Steam with no dice. Must be a way to get it to work, just haven't figured out the right alchemy ingredients yet. :)

I understand you (both) it's just that I only want Galaxy to work like it is supposed to do. Meaning I can import an already installed game in the language of my choice without having additional and wrong second entrys in my installed programs part of windows 7. And when they even cannot do THIS correct I doubt that they will be able to do such things like "all in one client" functionality. I have to tell you that my trust in GOG regarding their programming skills has sunken a lot since they don't even seem to be able to integrate a simple sort title field into their database so that most of my games are not sorted correctly.

BTW (and totally OT): Have you an idea why GOG downloader always shows me that I have 2 messages - even after reinstalling - without actually having one message? After clicking th elink in downloader the red "messages" disappear but after a few seconds they return :(

MarkoH01: I understand you (both) it's just that I only want Galaxy to work like it is supposed to do.
As I talked about in my earlier post, that isn't a reasonable expectation in an alpha version of any software which you can expect to be loaded with bugs, missing features, screwed up functionality, various programming mistakes, memory leaks, etc., etc., etc.

I feel your pain particularly as has been since pointed out to me that the site itself underwent drastic change in concert with this so-called beta release of Galaxy. I think the problem you are seeing is going to be sorted out but all the bugs in the database (and I am sure there are tons of them) plus various features not even implemented yet all have to be assigned various priorities and then to various engineers to work on them. Then the fixes and additions have to be internally tested (I hope!) and then another build goes live for public testing and this is going to go on over and over until Galaxy is feature complete and finished with beta.

You cannot judge this as a finished product that should work properly. It isn't and it won't for some time.

Just in case you missed my earlier post: beta software is a finished, feature complete version that has been internally tested and judged ready to be tested further by many hands on a lot of different configurations which is not possible to duplicate in the QA test lab in the interest of finding and fixing missed bugs of importance.

GOG's management would have been wise to clearly define what this software is currently and accurately so that people would understand what to expect and be able to make informed decisions about whether they want to be testers of it or not.

If the double entries you see are in your start menu, you can find that with the file manager and delete them easily enough. There are probably other ways too but I forget now since I went Mac a few years ago now. As for duplicates in the control panel Remove Programs view I believe sometimes you can remove those right there by attempting to remove something that does not exist which will result in Windows prompting you to delete the entry if desired. Failing that, I know I have found a free utility before (probably on CNET.com) to display all the entries there and allow you to selective delete anything you want. I suspect it is really nothing more than a specialized registry editor as that is probably where the info for that list is kept.

Hope that's helpful.

Thank you for your reply. I agree that this software is far from ready. Unfortunately GOG nearly forces the user to use Galaxy by hiding the GOG downloader links and not supporting this functional tool any longer. As I wrote in another thread: if Galaxy really WOULD be OPTIONAL the GOG downloader would NOT be redundant. Therefore GOG has not said the truth telling us Galaxy being "The optional Client" as long as you don't consider using your browser a useful alternative. Now or tomorrow GOG downloader might break because of the changes in the GOG structure and nobofy cares. I cannot see how Galaxy then still would be "optional". It's morer than that. On their page they are even stating that they HATE forcing people to do something - well, I HATE it if somebody lies to me (again: using my browser is not a real alternative).

No, unfortunately the double entrys I am talking about are not only in the start menu. They are in the installed programs part of windows (Control Panel -> Programs) which you can only change by editing registry entrys. I have no deinstalled those games and reinstalled them using the normal installer files. I will not import them to Galaxy until they have fixed this. I don't like my registry to being scrambled just because GOG likes me to be a guinea pig.

I think the most requested GOG feature at the top of the list right now is:

- Fix bugs in what you have already, fix all of them, don't introduce any new features or functionality to anything until all bugs in what is there now are fixed.

Whether they start with the website or whatever I don't think anyone cares so long as things get fixed more than broken more.

What we have right now is an overall community sentiment that things are getting broken more daily and not fixed for weeks/months on end while new things show up and break even more things.

QA seems non-existent sometimes. Serious need of quality control for sure.

dirtyharry50:
I agree that beta is beta and say that often myself. I think a big problem is that right now, Galaxy isn't the only thing in "beta", but the entire GOG website and end user experience is, but it's more of an alpha experience and whether or not someone clicked on "try beta". There are new customers showing up for the first time to GOG who are used to a rather stable and reliable experience elsewhere and having endless problems with just about everything because just about everything is broken right now.

It's kind of like trying to repair the engine in your car while you're driving it down the highway at 90MPH really.

I haven't made a purchase recently but if it is possible to visit GOG.com, shop for games, buy them, download and install them via the web page or Galaxy and play them, I think the problems and issues are probably being overstated by the regulars who do not like the changes along with the less important stuff that is disrupted, missing or even not working.

In short, if you can buy a game here and play it without too much problem, I don't think it's that big of a deal really that the site is undergoing changes in concert with the client.

When people cannot buy a game here, download and play it then there is a real problem of significance but as far as I know that isn't happening at least with any significant regularity if at all, is it?

Well I certainly trust that as long as they're in business, if I buy a DRM-free game here then I will be able to download it somehow and as long as that is true then my primary need is met. If there is a problem I'll just contact support if it is an issue and they're great so I feel happy about that. Even the TW3 DLC issue right now for example, lots of people reporting the DLC missing and I see that now too. Not even going to bother support for it because later today or tomorrow or $whenever it will be back so it isn't causing me any big issue right now, however some people will likely be losing a nut over it now too because they don't have it and want it. I'm generally ok with waiting a few days for support issues to clear up personally.

So all the bugs on the site/etc. wont affect my purchasing habits likely but it is disappointing nonetheless for two reasons. 1) To experience the regular inconvenience of one or another thing being broken can be irritating at times. I'm probably much more heavily on the forgiving side of that than not, but that bothers others a lot more. 2) Seeing others experiencing a bad time due to things being broken, and knowing that not everyone handles such things the same way and as a result some people are having a really bad experience in their own eyes and their eyes ultimately can affect whether or not their wallet will open again here.

The latter one is perhaps more disturbing because I want to see GOG succeed and thrive, not have broken things constantly that frustrate and scare away hordes of new customers. Kind of want to kick them in the pants and buy them pizza and beer at the same time if that makes sense. :)
Where did the indicator go to indicate which game have new updates? Even the website got rid of the indicator and requires doing a pull down filter to see that there is a new update! I hate that change!
Has anyone found a way to stop the ghosts of purchases haunting the trolley?
Any news on witcher 2 achievements? As I thought to unlock some of W2 achievements during my W2 playthrough before W3, but stopped due to it. As of now W3 just collects dust in my library waiting for W2 save file. I personally don't mind waiting, but if it's few months to go then I might just continue playing.

I've found that you can remove them from the cart as per normal.
