Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

I started Galaxy then exited it a few minutes later. I started it again to play Witcher 3 and it was not in my available games anymore. It is still in my library. I did not delete Witcher 3 or do anything other than start Galaxy. The Galaxy client updated when I started it. My entire Witcher 3 folder is gone besides the folders that held the actual files. The entire folder is only 8MBs now instead of the 25~GBs.

I have no idea what's going on, the files just deleted...? I posted to Mantis.

Well worded and plus 1 from me too.

Being a software developer myself I don't blame the devs at GOG. I feel for them since they certainly are putting a lot of "blood, sweat and tear" into the product right now.

But I question the people making the decisions. They put out a client in alpha stage (your observation is spot on) for the masses of non-tech-savvy people who just want to play TW3 and also tore down an (at least mostly) working website for another "alpha" one that can be integrated with the client.

Let's be honest: Chat, friends management, notifications, even the damn shoppingcart (!) - so many things are broken right now. Of course it's a valid idea to put the whole page into the client (like Steam does), but this should have been postponed, and also, the website for the client should have been on a different path/server/port/whatever, so that it can be tested without touching (and breaking) the existing site.

Like I said, I don't blame the devs, I blame the management. The way it currently is, many people coming here will have a bad impression.

You didn't install TW3 into the Galaxy folder, did you?
Because the update may have just deleted that one to install the new version.

Exactly, also being in software development... I get software has bugs. I was fine with this in alpha and I'm find with this in beta, but it's quite clear this should have spent more time as a closed alpha. Now I feel like largely were being ignored when in alpha it was a smaller test group and our ideas/issues were more closely dealt with. You post on mantis now and your likely not to get any response, or worse have your problem closed with even knowing it was looked at.

As far as GOG's web developers, I have little faith in them honestly... even before Galaxy, stuff like (notifcations, ect) have stayed in a constant state of being broken. That is beyond ridiculous. This is even worse when the same people are building the web integration into Galaxy. Leaves little faith with the site doesn't work as it should before the changes, let alone after.

I realize Galaxy devs are working hard, and I appreciate that... but first impressions are everything, and Galaxy in it's current state leaves a bad impression... especially for Witcher 3 owners. Thankfully my experience overall hasn't been to bad, but it's clear Galaxy was not ready for a major release.

I agree with this. Whilst i've not had any issue with Galaxy (aside from it taking ages to load the game 'art' up each time I start it up and am unable to do anything. till it does. My biggest issue with with the GUI.

When you have loads of games, scrolling down becomes a bit of a pain to do. (It reminds me alot of the PS4 and its whole scrolling to the side.) It would be good to only show icons and such like you can on Steam. or even just use a simular layout as Steam.

As much as I really wish I didn't have to, I must agree with you on this. It takes time to test things and report bugs in any bug tracker and time is valuable. There are two types of bug reports with testing like this, one is just using the software as you normally would if you weren't testing it and then reporting bugs. In this case you're still testing it but just testing it in ways that are useful to you and not going beyond that. It's still valuable testing however. The second is going out of your way to take extra steps to try things to see if they work, see if you can break something, test every option on menus etc. - essentially doing QA testing and reporting bugs/problems you find. And of course they're not mutually exclusive either.

I've done both and ended up having bugs blindly closed by either an auto-bot or by human hands with a form letter basically that boil down to "We're triaging bugs because there are too many, we don't want to look into this problem because there is a new version out that might not have the problem so we're closing this completely and if the problem exists still in the latest version spend another half hour of your time to test it again and file a completely new bug report instead of us giving you a way to REOPEN the bug like Bugzilla, TRAC and just about every other sane bug tracker does because we value your time and effort."

Once I got hit with a big waft of automated bug closures like this I stopped reporting bugs in mantis. I'll mention problems here in the forum still, but they'll be only problems that occur when I'm using the software as a regular user and not doing any extra QA-type testing because I feel it is just a waste of my valuable time. They're so swamped with work and things going on right now though too that I don't think they'll replace their existing bug tracker with something superior any time soon and I doubt we'll see it have more user friendly features for reopening bugs or changing other fields post-facto like modern trackers like Bugzilla or TRAC let you do for example because it probably does what they need it to do and changing that would be a lot of work at this point.

I trust that they're working their asses off hard but that their internal processes are probably tilted strongly towards bottom-up development rather than top-down, with no serious quality assurance testing with automated testing, addition of regression tests when something is found really broken that is automatable to test for etc. Either that or they do have those things and it's just inadequate. I'm rather patient myself when it comes to this stuff, but I'd be lying if I were to say the site hasn't been perpetually broken in a multitude of ways for a long time (years) with fixes few and far between - most likely because they're over-tasked and under-manned is my best guess. I want to see them succeed even more than they are now though and thrive so I hope they sort that out sometime.

I agree, I'm happy that they're working hard to create this for us too and I want it to succeed, but from my past experience using and testing a multitude of software even though this is a "beta" at the moment, it feels more like an ongoing live-tested nightly snapshot. If you compared it to a web browser for example, it would be like using Mozilla Firefox nightly builds rather than Firefox beta or aurora (alpha).

I'm personally patient to wait for as many weeks/months as it takes to get a stable release and development bugs aren't a huge issue for them nor something that affects my judgment of GOG as a company nor doubt their efforts are for the good. But unfortunately most people testing things aren't anywhere near as forgiving and patient and expect a more polished product whether it is Galaxy or the website at the moment. And many people try things out whether they are stable, beta, alpha or otherwise and can have bad experiences and make judgments about it that never go away, possibly causing them to never try it again. I really don't want to see that happen, I personally want to see Galaxy succeed and not end up seen as something perpetually buggy/beta/missing-features etc.

In hindsight and with no disrespect intended, I think they rushed it out sooner than it was ready in order to have it available when The Witcher 3 launched as it was too good of a marketing opportunity to miss out on and it's hard to tell if or when the next major opportunity they might have like that will be. It could be Cyberpunk 2077 which is likely a long way off. If my assumptions are correct about that - I can't fault them for it, it is a really attractive target to line this up with Witcher 3 really and really hard to pass up the opportunity.

But in the end, what's done is done and the past really doesn't matter squat now. What matters ultimately is what happens next and we can only wait to find out in the end. Some of the pressure is off now I bet, but I'm sure there's still plenty. :)

Regardless though, when it does get to that stable state we all hope to see, it will be a day to rejoice, and hopefully they'll include links inside Galaxy for us to buy the development team all pizza or beer or something. :)

ZIGS: I had Galaxy installed and it was working fine. I uninstalled it and installed again and now it won't even launch. I tried installing in the default directory, rebooting the PC and nothing, I double-click the executable and nothing happens. What could be the problem?
Its probably working fine. How long did you wait until you rebooted, etc.?
My Galaxy needs about 3-5min after I doubleclick the icon, until I see the window! Its simply doing some background checks for updates and stuff.
Hope this is fixed sometime, because its annoying if you don't know if Galaxy is crashed or only doing updates!
avatar
Raverok: I had no issues with GOG Galaxy so far but I've got a question. Is it somehow possible to import achievements from the game profile to GOG Galaxy? I was playing Witcher 3 a lot but I had no internet connection for 2 days so I was playing on 1.02 patch and now I'm missing achievements like The Doppler Effect or Shieker ( I've done this quest in game but I have no achievement on GOG Galaxy). Thanks for any responses.
avatar
Destro: Were you in a logged-in state into GOG Galaxy before you launched the game? (please note that logged in / logged out states and online / offline states are completely separated - you can be logged out and online, or logged in and offline :)

Technically you don't have to be connected to internet (online) when the achievement unlocks as long as you were successfully logged into your account in the client. In such scenario achievements should be stored locally and will not display in the Client after your offline play, however once you launch the game again being online, it will be uploaded to GOG (so you should see these missing achievement after the next time you play TW3 being online)
I was logged in but offline and achievements haven't unlocked on Galaxy. The same thing is with Witcher Adventure Game. I've earned few achievements in the game before Galaxy client and they're not importing as well.

dirtyharry50: [...], participating in a beta may not be for you and sticking to the website until Galaxy is finished may be a better option [...]
Nicely said.

The problem is that, with the way they went about it, the entire userbase is forced to beta test the site, and that's putting aside that some things don't even make sense or are of any use for the site users.

The really sad thing is that they actually think that they are funny or somebody cares - except it's just a sign for stupidity. Hopefully the community knows that not all Germans are this way.
