Approximately 13 seconds after logging into the client. I get a popup that says "Connection to GOG Galaxy Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown." I've tried rebooting my computer and uninstalling and reinstalling the client. Neither has helped.

Looks like this is a common reported issue on 1.2.6, not sure if anyone has found a fix yet. May have to wait for a patch.

Ok, cool, thanks. I looked but didn't see it reported anywhere. I guess I should have searched harder.

Here is one of a few relevant mantis reports with this issue. Of course you can always play your games without Galaxy for now. I'm sure it will be fixed soon given it's a more widespread issue. :)

Hi are you by chance using remote desktop when launching Galaxy?

I am. Win 7 x64 SP1 is the host machine, installed Galaxy via RDP from a Win 7 laptop. Galaxy loads without problem when I launch it locally.

[edit] Having logged in locally and launching Galaxy, I have now returned to my laptop and reconnected. I can browse and tinker with Galaxy as much as I wish. However if I log out of Galaxy and attempt to log back in, boom, connection lost.

Let me know if you need full specs, versions etc.

I was at the time. I was at work and had remoted in to my personal computer so I could get a download going so it would be ready when I got home.

I don't think I had the problem once I got home, so maybe the remote connection was causing the issue.

Yep known issue with remote desktop, I'm not sure if it's the only cause but one of the causes for this issue for sure. GOG is aware, but it's not currently supported.
Hi,

sorry if you are experiencing this issue. Like BKGaming mentioned, Remote Desktop is not something we currently support. For anybody in the future, if you think this is not your case, please open an issue at http://mantis.gog.com, attaching your logs and any information about your machine that you might find relevant (for example using other remoting software, using Active Directory, or having any non-basic setup in terms of user accounts).

Interestingly enough:

1. Google Chrome Remote Desktop works. It doesn't crash with using this.
2. Then once going, running RFP into the machine, it keeps working.

I have seen programs report that they will not work with RDP. It is better for a program to report that than simply crash.

Also, what's the deal with RDP? I didn't think it needed to be actively supported, as just about everything other than games work with RDP.

That doesn't make any sense at all. This isn't a case of you "not supporting" it, this is actually a case of you actively choosing to block it. That's not cool.

I can remote connect to my gaming PC and run Origin, Steam, Itch, and Uplay without any issue. I can remotely manage my game installations completely fine. And until just about last month, I could do the same with GoG Galaxy, remotely managing my games to my heart's content. Now you've blocked it.

Why did you choose to block it, when no one else does?

Actually it's an acknowledged bug, not any kind of block: http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=2151

Thanks for the acknowledgement. That's a much better (and more hopeful) response than "it's not supported."
