arrua: An exception can be made with developer accounts. At the end of the day it is gog staff who give developer accounts their special "colors".
Note that not everyone has the orange flag, just because they don't even know about its existence. They should promote it more :/

pippo-san: btw, great to see all of you discussing about that: at least a proper bot detection could already be something, like for purchased games, but I don't know if is a good thing or not to restrict posting/creating topics only to who paid, since a lot of people just come here for the freebies.
Soft-ban (as in revoke posting privileges until staff review) any account that creates more than say 10 new threads per hour. That's really not typical user behavior by any stretch of the imagination.

Gog should give developers one or two accounts when they put a game on gog. It should be that easy.
This is almost as bad as Foad having "Zoom Platform" on all of his posts.

Then as a counter measure, the bot owners will simply send 10 of their bots at once, to make one spam thread each, instead of just sending one bot to make 10 spam threads.

So there would essentially be no difference in the degree to which the forum is sabotaged, if they are going to go with a half-measure like that.
What if those spam bots from Nigeria are actually frequent GOG users in disguise? They could be trying to show that GOG needs to change something with its forum to fight constant spam attacks.
That´s a terrible image for users and as store. Definitely they should take messures to prevent this.
Observation: Every one o these spam threads have a title that's lone enough to fill the entire space. Therefore, you can mentally filter out any thread with a long title, which allowed me to find a handful of threads that aren't spam.

Unfortunately, even after 13 pages, I wasn't able to get caught up on messages.

GOG does need to have moderators who work on weekends, nights, and holidays in order to deal with spam and other posts that shouldn't be here. (Spam is the problem right now, but if, say, a user were to go on a bigoted rant that made many other users on the forum uncomfortable (and, for sake of this discussion, let's assume that this post also violated the "no politics" rule), I think people would want it gone sooner rather than later.)

(Posting in this topic so that it will be easier for me to find for the time being.)

THe second part isn't even about making people uncomfortable. It's about implicit support of the content by not deleting it. That could put them in legal trouble for hate speech if it is left untended for too long. And yes, people's feelings do matter. They're jsut not the primary issue for a global company.
Can't believe it's still going

And then as a counter-measure, GOG would react and adjust to that. The idea that it won't be a constant battle is a fever dream, sadly. But at this point I don't see GOG enforcing any kind of reactive measures, other than user modding/deletion, which is why we're here in the first place...

That you use this spam wave as an opportunity to attack me again is simply pathetic. That is all what I say about this.

I haven't attacked anyone. You have "Zoom Platform" on all of your posts. You have more posts than these bots do, don't you? Since you have "Zoom Platform" in your title, that means all of your posts have it. That's way more than anyone else here has ever mentioned it.

You forget the second more important part "= notorious liars and spam !". The truth which you can't handle.

eric5h5: Also you seem obsessed with migrating posts, when it would be more reasonable to just archive the existing forum and start over.
Just butting in to say that the fact that this "solution" is even mentioned is an excellent reason why changing is an awful idea. Not that they wouldn't find other ways to mess it up too, but starting over is an absolute no-no.
