Brazilian players are receiving a sadly mail about GOG dropping their support for Brazil. Although it's not full drop of us, we will still have the means to pay for the games on the platform, the mail didn't let clear if the GOG Galaxy and the main website will not be anymore in our language anymore.

But I fear that this move will eventually lead to getting rid of the means for us brazilian players aquire our games.
My first and second game on the platform were aquired as a free gift back in december 2010.
My actual first bought game on the platform was 6 YEARS LATER due GOG taking this long to support any means for us to buy our games...

I don't wanna go back to those dark days...
There is already a thread where this is mentioned... https://www.gog.com/forum/general/message_to_gog_team_about_ending_brazilian_language_support

I can understand this when there is a forum dedicated to one’s language (like German or French), but shouldn’t we be more accepting in case of languages without any dedicated forum?
Not everyone feel comfortable writing in English… (including some native English speakers, but that’s another story ;P)

Full disclosure: I don’t understand carloszaga’s post, and didn’t try any translation tool. So don’t see this as endorsing this post contents in any way.

Dropping language support will not prevent you from buying games here. You'll just have to read the game descriptions in English and pay in US-Dollars, if your countries currency is not supported. Should not be a problem, really, unless GOG screws up big-time. (Which is always a possibility) Gog existed for years with only the English store-front and US$ as the only currency, after all, and it worked fine.

Actually I would be happy if they dropped the German store-front and German forum completely. When they introduced those, they introduced regional blocking for indexed games in Germany at the same time. Which is a really bad deal.

Don't worry, I'm not going any further with it either. :P

Same here, but there are probably enough German users who can't cope in English... and Germany is a big gaming market.

Be careful what you wish for. We are talking EU here, Poland is not outside the "game".

Even if they KICK region blocking for themselves, german ISPs could be forced to block the GOG page completely, if someone with enough political force tries to enforce it, when too much complaints come together.

No, we shouldn't. It's not like a word or two slipped into an English sentence, it's completely in a foreign language. It makes it a nightmare to moderate and those of us that aren't mods have to either ignore it as spam or copy it into google translate and hope that it works out.

This is a standard rule because otherwise you wind up with chaos.

For the most part people just don't post in fora where they don't understand enough language to contribute in the appropriate language.

Germans coping with English is a pretty low bar to clear. A significant portion of English grammar and vocab comes from German, Germans also adopted a lot of the same French and Latin words so there's already a pretty substantial portion of coping handled even without compulsory English classes.

That's not to suggest that all Germans can cope with English, or want to, but they start close enough that if they're buying games here, they're probably close enough to be able to post something that's somewhat intelligible in English.
