I've been using Gog downloader for years, don't use Galaxy and prefer the Gog downloader to direct downloads for various reasons. It has always worked well for me.
Yesterday it just stopped working, it remains stubbornly grey and offline, with a connecting... message on bottom right.
I can see the list of downloads waiting to be completed, but they are just sitting there.

Double-checked that it is allowed in my firewall and whitelisted in my anti-virus.
Uninstalled. Reinstalled.

No change. Can anyone help?

Apologies if there is a recent thread on this topic, the most recent I could find re the downloader was from 2017, but of course the forum search function isn't the best.

Checked, it just shows offline and won't connect. Someone else is also having a problem in the thread just below called downloader tool.
GoG downloader is pretty much dead, deprecated and largely ignored in favor of galaxy and GoG has said they arent bringing it back.

Note that it would probably be best if you articulated what these "various reasons" are.

The most likely scenario is that the GOG downlaoder doesnt support TLS1.2. Most sites including GOG have migrated to TLS1.2 for PCi 3.0 compliance. if the downloader doesnt underestand tls1.2 it cant connect to gog to authenticate

There is currently an issue with the downloader, our teams are looking into this. I'll be posting updates as they come. Offline installers are still working. We understand any frustrations you may be having but please bear with us while we work on the issue.

As mentioned, I will feedback updates as they come!

I'm sure you guys know what your doing, but mrkgnao reported MaGog is no longer able to access the site because of an SSL update. I imagine there might be a similar issue with the downloader?

Not sure if my script is in any way effected yet.

at this point, why even using GOG downloader?

Because, until this problem, it has been the most simple & reliable way to download offline installers.

Exactly :)
And by the way, I can confirm that it's working fine now :)

Thanks, it's the server side stuff I'm concerned about though. I'm fairly sure it's fine but I forgot to check this morning to be sure.
I'll check it tonight and make sure I don't need to do anything.

Thank you very much for posting and to Gog for fixing this so fast and for continuing to support the downloader. I am most grateful for that

This

It creates sub-directories in which to install each game, pauses when necessary, restarts almost always without problems, notifies me of updates (mostly) and of forum replies. It doesn't take me to the right pages for the latter, but nobody's perfect.

Considering that Firefox keeps outdating any downloader I use when it upgrades, and I don't use Galaxy, I now stick with Gog downloader and I'm very happy with it.

Thank you again to Linko for taking the time to post and and Gog for fixing the issue.

gogrepo. I can't even update firefox, anymore, due to it's constantly increasing RAM hogging.

It's nice and fine that so many of you guys are able to use this script. But I even posted once in the gogrepo forum here on GOG trying to get some instructions and obviously it seems to be much too complicated for a more simple user to use it. GOG downloader is one installation, setting the options and double click on my game whenever a new update has arrived. I don't doubt that it would be even more simple using gogrepo IF it weren't so complicated to use it at all. Maybe somebody should try to do a UI and a manual for it :)

And here I thought GOG Downloader stopped working.
I was downloading the installer updates manually through Galaxy, but that is really tedious. As soon as I get home I install that marvellous little software.
I found some posts about gogrepo and how to use it: (You can find it here), but if the officially developed option still works, I prefer that.

I agree, however it's one dev working on it, so we can't expect much for now.
