AccurateArt: More biologically female? Did Bruce develop a vagina or ovaries? What does being more "biologically female" even mean?
Also, tell me what was Bruce's hormonal balance at birth? As I do not believe that gender is a malleable thing, I recognize one's biological gender :)
Looking forward to your response!
dtgreene: Again, her name is "Caitlyn", not "Bruce".
Caitlyn's hormonal balance at birth was likely similar to that of any other child (regardless of sex), as she had not gone through puberty at that point.
Keep in mind, Caitlyn did develop breasts on hormones. Similarly, a trans man will develop facial hair and other masculine traits when on testosterone.
Also, I am looking at sex as something that happens naturally, not based on how many hormones they received artificially.
You can keep saying that Bruce is a woman. You know my position on it (Caitlin is a male in this case).
I do curious though to see what you think about this story: Chloe Jennings-White is an able bodied woman who identifies as being "transabled" meaning that although her legs function normally, she uses leg braces and a wheelchair because she identifies as being disabled. Is that something you would also agree with or does there seem to be something wrong with that?
dtgreene: No, because she is not a man. Also, her name is "Caitlyn", not "Cailyn". ("Cailyn" sounds like it would work as a name, however.)
zeogold: Ok, normally I'd try not to engage you on this subject, but whatever-their-name-is Jenner is a joke. Jenner has been pulling random publicity stunts, and garnered so much love from the liberal community for the sex change that they (happy, now?) got out of accidental murder for it. Maybe you feel like some people are women trapped in men's bodies or whatever, but Jenner isn't one of them and should not be celebrated for anything.
Not to mention Bruce has been getting attacked by feminists like Germaine Greer: "“I think misogyny plays a really big part in all of this, that a man who goes to these lengths to become a woman will be a better woman than someone who is just born a woman.”"On top of that, Bruce has been criticized for oversimplifying what it means to be a woman (picking out what outfits to wear).
I can see why one would want to avoid discussing this particular individual.
dtgreene: I was actually not the one who brought up the issue. After asking if a certain other user would be attracted to a certain type of person (redheaded man with boobs, something that can reasonably happen), he (I assume from this person claiming to be attracted to women and not gay) mentioned "transgender". It just so happened that the thread happened to latch on to the topic.
zeogold: You may not have started it, but you sure as heck escalated it. It's not exactly like you have the best track record on this issue, man. This isn't the first time you've baited an entire thread. I'm just happy it wasn't out of place this time.
dtgreene: What if you are already dating the transgender individual, but you don't realize it until the person tells you several dates in?
zeogold: Then I would IMMEDIATELY dump them, because obviously there's a problem in the relationship if they're going to keep secrets as big as that from you. A lack of trust is a bad sign for a future partnership.
i agree with you Zeogold, if someone cannot disclose the fact that they identify as transgendered from the start, I do not see why I should be with them as they are hiding something pretty big from me.
