StingingVelvet: Good post. I guess what I more meant is that it's weird they have gotten much of anyone to go along with it, and I don't expect big publishers doing so anytime soon.

Also, kind of unrelated, I wonder how many GOG sales are from idiots like me who don't mind paying a few bucks to get a non-Steam or non-Origin copy of a game we already own. In the current weekend sale I am very tempted to get Dragon Age Origins for example, even though I own the game on Steam and all the DLC through Bioware's site.
Might as well include me in that idiot description. I have been slowly buying games here that I already have on Steam so I can free myself from that platform and their stupid "subscriber model". I can't remember the last game I actually bought there. GOG Connect has helped me a little in that regard, for which I am appreciative.

Include me, too, though now I'm saving for home ownership, so I'm buying far less games overall.

Mr_Whiffles: I've always loved the idea behind GOG Connect, but I don't think it is very useful. You can only get a GOG game at a certain time if you own the Steam version, but during this time I've rarely seen a Steam version discounted. I prefer GOG games, which means that my Steam library isn't as big, which means that GC isn't as effective for me. It also limits my GOG spending in order to get the Steam release on the slim chance I can use GC. It's a catch-22; I'd like to have both versions, but I prefer GOG, and I've stopped buying too many GOG games because I want to use the GOG Connect feature. Does anyone share similar sentiments with GOG Connect?
Considering the level of usefulness that GOG itself generally maintains, you might want to reconsider your expectations.

Yes, GOG is better than Steam, but is that good enough to deserve my loyalty? Hell no -- not that GOG gives a rip, of course. ;p

It's all right. I like being able to no-hassle add a game to my GOG account as a backup. But I'll still likely play the Steam version instead because achievements.

I have no complaints. Every now and again I get lots of games for free. If I'm not paying for it, its awesome.

I'm glad that they were able to work out a way to do it at all. Sure I'd like to move all of my Steam games over to GOG and ,in fact, if GOG sold more of the newer games I want I'd buy them here instead of Steam in the 1st place.

But yeah, I'm happy it exists at all. Thanks GOG!!!! :)

I got a huge library on Steam, it's only recently I started to appreciate GOG more than Steam. I think that GOG Connect is great and I'm thankful for every migrated/connected game, it makes the transition to GOG as my main game service easier.

GOG Connect is what it is, a marketing tool. Shouldn't be viewed as nothing more, nor should it be viewed as primary way to get games via GOG.

I honestly didn't mean anything more or less than what I stated. I'd much rather use GOG and get DRM free games I can play without a client involved unless I choose to use it.
I'm glad they worked out a way to migrate some of my games away from Steam and onto GOG and I wish they could work out a way do it with all of them.

There's nothing more to it than that.
