Is this dead?
Don't think so, however publishers and IP owners need to agree to have there games a part of it so the lack of any GOG connects just means that publishers don't want to participate.
One thing is certain. It's nowhere near as commom as it was till late 2018.

Let's just say that although it's technically still alive, it's more like GOG simply haven't gotten around to filling in the death certificate yet...

Meh, yes and no. It would be more accurate to say undead, like a zombie.
Most definitely dead, nothing showed on it for about a year.
It died a couple of years ago, but GOG never notified the feds and have been quietly still living on the social security checks ever since.
Players have a huge number of free or cheap games from Steam / Humble Bundle / Fanatical / etc...

GOG Connect could be too expensive for GOG and Publishers to use it again.

So, I don't see any chance of bringing it back to life at the moment.

If they were any checks, I think GOG is actually surviving on them these days lol
It's not dead, it's just sleeping. We covered it with pillows so it can get a better sleep. We also locked the door to the room where it's sleeping, and we don't talk about that room anymore.

Wait, what were we talking about again?

seems to sort of been phased out in favor of Galaxy 2.0 letting you track all your games in one place. It might pop up once in a while still.
if it's any consolation, gog has been giving out free games throughout the sale.
GOG Connect occasionally has some games, just not often.

Pretty sure it was well less than a year, as someone claimed, that it last had some.

We had a fairly quiet long patch this year without free games too ... aside from some of the collections that GOG whipped up from bits and pieces.

In the latter part of the year, things picked up, so maybe this year we might see more of GOG Connect again.

No doubt it is all down to how the games on GOG Connect are financed and or agreements.
they should make it payable , for a small fee you could get your games here too
I bet this would make this feature much more used
