mike_cesara: It is about Galaxy not about connecting steam account for GoG sake!
well no

as this hasnt even prompted to ask for my steam id, nor takes me to any for to fill for this

so no its not that..
This thread is about GoG client, Galaxy. It has nothing to do with steam..
If you can't connect to internet with Galaxy xlient, please report the issue at http://mantis.gog.com along with your logs.
If you can't link your Steam account with GoG, be patient, servers are overloaded..

i really dont think you get it
sorry mate

normally the box where you click link account pops a FORM to fill out with ID and pw and a check box
this wont even pop that up

same as SEARCHING in the galaxy client in forums, clicking on the button does NOTHING just as the buttons on that page of CONNECT to steam do NOTHING
no time outs, no nothing

reporting client issues is pointless, nothing ever comes from it
best case is hoping someone posts here a fix or a patch comes out.

but you are thinking WRONG in terms of what .. I and WE mean when we cant even click on anything vs its just overloaded.

my guess the new galaxy client sucks, so far its the worst version, wish I could roll back to when it worked

achievements dont work etc tons of issues to report
but this one with steam, isnt what you are talking about at all..

love ya doc, but read, ty

You're absolutely right, I didn't get that.. And I am not a remote viewer either.

toxicTom: Just a hint that may help some users:

I recently had the problem that both Chrome and Galaxy couldn't connect to any *.gog.com server. Firefox worked fine. Chrome showed a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error.

Somehow the Window DNS catalog got damaged.

I was able to fix the problem with the following steps (Windows 7):
1. Start -> type cmd
2. right-click CMD icon -> run as administrator
3. on the now open console enter the following: netsh winsock reset catalog
4. restart computer

After that, both Galaxy and Chrome worked as expected.
don't forget "ipconfig /flushdns" without quotes then after reboot should work fine!

urmm that flushdns does nothing for static ips
and here with comcast it does really nothing..
if the client connects, at all, the dns is fine. or your net wouldnt work either half the time

same as these darn achievements
ive earned 6 total and only 2 popped up after doing them 20 times each, its very friggen annoying
nothing seems to work

doc what you mean about a remote viewer?

I think there might be a line problem and that's usually on their end also you could try checking your physical connection socket and check your cabling for any damage if you have pets they might of chewed on it!

The point of "ipconfig /flushdns" is to tell your machine to forget any DNS resolution information it may have cached for other domains and hosts. So, if GOG or Valve have recently made a DNS change for some of their servers, your machine will potentially get these changes more quickly if you flush your Windows DNS resolution cache. It will force the DNS lookup to be fully resolved instead of pulled from a (potentially stale) local cache.

It has nothing to do with your own ISP or dynamic/static IP situation.

I haven't tried to solve this GOG Connect issue using flushdns yet, just explaining the idea of it.

u can just do the same thing by resetting your modem truly

but as you said this isnt a dns issue.

1) No. Restarting your modem has nothing to do with the Windows DNS cache. Maybe you are confusing DNS with DHCP? Maybe you are thinking of ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew? Ipconfig /flushdns has a very different purpose. Your Windows machine caches the IP addresses of the internet services you use and websites you visit, for performance. But once in a while you might try to access an internet host for which the cached value you have is stale (old, outdated). Sometimes it helps to flush the Windows DNS cache so you will force a DNS lookup the next time you access the internet host in question. As I said before, in this case it could be that GOG or Valve have recently updated some DNS entries for one or more of their servers, and we have not yet received the updated value. Changes take time to propagate to the various name servers and caches. The last link in that change propagation is your own machine. For some of us, it might be possible to get the new value more quickly by clearing the Windows DNS cache. That is the point of ipconfig /flushdns. No amount of modem restarts are going to convince Windows that it is time to clear its DNS cache.

2) No. I did not say this is not a DNS issue. I said I haven't tried it yet. It could very well be a DNS issue. In fact it would explain everything perfectly. I am starting to wonder if you even read my last post before replying ... or anybody else's posts, for that matter.

I was being sarcastic in saying it would do about as good as restarting my modem
its NOT a dns issue

even the client is crashing every so often while in game. fun stuff.

dns flushed long before reading the posts here and just again to make sure fyi

I know what dns is, again NT here lolol seriously and im ancient so cmd prompt well, thats my home :P

this is nuts though the client keeps crashing, the game keeps not registering any achievements until done like 30 times each then oh it might work

and the menu for the connect has not CHANGED so that it does work to get the form id popped up, its a new front page now notice the green steam thing gone? thats cause it didnt WORK.

not a dns issue, gog issue huge one
wish they wouldnt force beta on us.

again just look at the flood on gog

What flood? There are three posts int the thread you linked with the issue, from.. June 2015
Unlike steam (which btw isn't working for everyone) galaxy is not mandatory, you don't have to use it if you don't like it. You may still enjoy your game without the client. If you want to participate in beta tests, you should be prepared for technical issues. Keep in mind however, there are no remote viewers available at the moment and may take time to solve some problems without galaxy logs, which can be very helpful in reproducing bugs.
One has to be at least a bit tech savvy to understand that I believe.
btw, it works for me without any problems either on windows and debian. I think I didn't experience a single crash since alpha. tests. So, the problem is definitely on your side. Play around with running in background third party software such as antivirus, firewall, memory optimizers. Missing VC libraries perhaps? Privileges? Or even hardware issues..

Ah ok, I didn't pick up the sarcasm. Cool man.

But you're a "network tech" and you reinstalled your OS for this problem?

It doesn't even work in firefox/chrome/edge/safari.
