It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Johny.: We've made tests on Windows 8.1 with FF 35, 40.0.2, 40.0.3 - no signs of crash after many tabs opened for hours, sending messages etc. I don't say that it's not an issue, but we need to reproduce it to fix it.
I had this problem with FF 40.0.2, 40.0.3 and not before. And I had this problem on Win 7 and Win 8.1.

Also: Did you have a forum tab open at the same time as the chat? Because I only had FF crash once without a forum tab open at the same time as the chat. And mostly while writing messages in chat.
If anyone encounter this, please list your browser addons, because we cannot reproduce the issue. I sam one list at the seventh page, but it would be really helpful if you all could list yours.

Open the Firefox menu, click Add-ons, and select Plugins. If you want to help more - try disabling all of your addons and tell us if this caused FF not to crash.

Then we will know if this is good trail.

This is what our QA tested:

- Virtual Machine with Windows 10, FF 40.0.3, multiple tabs open. Nothing.
- Virtual Machine with Windows 10, FF 40.0.3, single tab open. Nothing.
- Laptop with Windows 10, FF 40.0.3, multiple tabs open. Nothing.
- QA PC with Windows 8.1, FF 40.0.3, multiple tabs open. Nothing.
- QA PC with Windows 8.1, FF 40.0.3, multiple tabs open, some addons installed. Nothing.
- Samsung laptop with Windows 8.1, FF 35, 40.0.2, 40.0.3. Nothing.
- OS X 10.10 with FF 40.0.3, multiple tabs open, with some addons. Nothing.
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and FF 40.0.3. Nothing.
- Virtualbox Windows XP, FF 30, 33, 40.0.3. Nothing.

Unless you have access to some blue magic, the reply notification comes from pressing the reply button next to a post, not by actually quoting said person. So unsure how many people you actually pinged.

I think the main problem is that we are also not able to regularly reproduce this issue. I had days where it did not happen at all and then there were days the chat crashed all the time. Today it did not crash for me yet.

Plugins I am using:
- Shockwave Flash
- OpenH264-Videocodec

In regards to browser AddOns: I already tested it some days ago when it crashed all the time and it happened with and without all addons (do you want a list nevertheless?)

I will add my yup to the list of crashers. I was having chronic crashing two days ago (30th) using latest version of firefox. I had three tabs open, all to GoG. I closed them after about the third crash. It made no difference. Crash would occur after about 20-30 seconds of typing.

I'm at work now or else I would include crash report. Only add-ons I can think of are Flash and Barefoot Essentials.

Johny.: snip
I'm on windows 7 service pack 1 64bit. My addons are Adblock Plus and SSL Version Control.

Johny.:
The only Add-ons I'm running are Adobe and Flash, plus the one that Firefox says it "automatically installs" (some Cisco thing?).

I'm not sure which Firefox I'm on but based on when I installed it I'm guessing it's 40.0.2 or 40.0.3 (assuming .3 is the latest).

HOWEVER I'm guessing the reason you can't reproduce it, and I'm guessing the response of most people to your "bump" is that it is occurring on Windows 7 - mine is 64 bit.

I haven't tried to send a PM using Linux yet.

I DON'T know if I crash when I have multiple tabs open or leave chat open as I haven't tried that. I DO know that if I'm actively trying to send someone a PM, my browser crashes in a matter of moments, usually while I'm typing LOL.

Johny.:
Steps to reproduce:
Open chat, start typing until it crashes (usually when I write the third line).

There is an error message in the web console of Firefox:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at wss://chat-broker.gog.com/. 2fb8541-4720e7e.js:12261:0

Thanks guys, that gives us new light on this bug. I didn't connect this with auto-expanding chat input before - I implemented it long ago and nobody reported crashes. I see there was a change in FF 40.0.0 connected to hardware vsync usage and scrolling released on August 11, 2015.

As we are detecting if scrollbar appears and instantly expanding input thereby removing the scrollbar - it could be connected, we will check this.

Still, we need to reproduce this to make tests and fix it. Please be patient. :)

P.S. I highly recommend Chrome or Chrome non-spying forks.

Thanks for taking the time to try to solve this. Hope you can find the problem fast :-)
Repeatable crashes with GOG Chat open. Happens every time within couple minutes of opening the chat.

Win7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit
Firefox 40.0.3 with multible tabs open.

Extensions: Adblock Plus
Theme: Default
Addons:
OpenH264 Video Codec by Cisco
Adobe Primetime HTML5 Content Decryption Module by Adobe
Shockwave Flash
Adobe PDF Plug-in
Google Update
Silverlight Plug-in
VLC Web Plug-in

All up-to-date.

Have chatted and kept chat open for extended period of times previously without crashes. Last time just over week ago (Aug 24th). Can't say for certain if anything has changed since.

Edit: Don't even have to do anything. Open chat, wait minute or two aaand crash.

Edit2: Disabling all extensions and addons effects nothing. Mind, still have all tabs open.

Edit3: As far as I can see, only firefox itself has updated (from 40.0.2 to 40.0.3) since I last had long chat discussion but there's nothing suspicious the changelog as far as I can see. Dunno if Microsoft has released any "let's break it because it works" patches lately.

I'll test this out - let me try to type a small amount and wait to see if I avoid crashing, and then type a longer message.

I am using
Windows 8.1(64 bit) and FF 40.0.3
Add-ons: None (Adobe Acrobat- Create PDF is disabled)
I don't know if you need anything else? I"m not the most computer savvy.
When I was getting crashes I had two tabs open: gog forum and gog chat.

And thank you again for being on top of this, I appreciate it! :)
EDIT: I just tried chat + forum now and it crashed again. 6:56 EST

Opening chat (with multible tabs open) and doing nothing also results in crash.
