I'm considering getting this, only a fiver at the moment for chaos edition :D, Though there probably isn't space in the legue now and I would get crushed repeatedly anyway as i have no idea what i'm doing.

Never been good at sports/racing games being a pure pc player. This looks different and fun though, and the turn based aspect looks good for learning too :)

It is a fun game but a difficult one.
We do have two spots open for the next season which should start on the 19th but I wouldn't recommend joining a tournament season without knowing what you do.

Well if it makes you feel any better I'm a noob too and I joined. The thing you have to learn is how unit stats work, after that it's not too hard. You can use tool tips to learn what skills do and the courser will tell you what you need to roll to do an action successfully. (3+ means you must roll a 4 or higher on a d6, 1s always fail while 6s always work)

3+ means that you need a to roll a 3 or higher.
AND it could still be that the throw gets "modified".

How to explain...

In Blood Bowl for a skill check to succeed you always need to reach at least 7 (unless your roll is a natural 6).
This 7 consists of your stat, agility for example, plus a 1d6 roll.

Example 1:
A Wardancer with agility 4 wants to use the skill Leap to jump over another player. She'll need to roll a 3+ for this to succeed.
4 (agility) + 3 (1d6) = 7.
If she rolls 4, 5 or 6 she'll also succeed, of course.
This is an example for a so-called "un-modified roll".

Example 2:
That wardancer with agility 4 wants to pick up the ball. The ball lies in a square with no tacklezones on it.
To reach 7 she would need to roll 3+ again, BUT as picking up a ball in a non-threatened square is such a basic move she get a bonus of +1 on her throw.
This means she actually only needs to roll a 2+.
4 (agility) + 1 (bonus) + 2 (1d6) = 7 Success!
This is an example for a so-called "modified roll".
In-game it would show as
{AG} (3+): 2 + 1 {Pick-Up} = 3 -> Success


Un-modified rolls are rare, they are mostly used for skill checks like leap, landing a Goblin etc.

Modified rolls are common, they are used for many basic actions like dodging, picking-up the ball etc.

If you're willing to take the time to read the Competition Rules you'll get the hang of it quite quickly. :-)
That game itself doesn't really explain the rules or conditions very well.
For example:
Each block die has to following possible results

Attacker Down
Both Down
Defender Stumbles
Defender Down
Pushed
Pushed

If you know that Pushed is twice on each die you can calculate the possibilities accordingly.

Just finished my game against the man with the many nicknames. One of the most fun matches i ever had :). The game was real close till the end and fortunately i did not roll any 1's in the last turn otherwise it was overtime. Ended 3-2 in my favor.

Man of the match was my new assassin who i got for the my match against Mafia so did not make an appearance until today, but he really shined against the skaven gutter runners.

Now im getting curious how i will do against Jollies elvish orcs. Will be another interesting game in the future :).
