Matches like the ones with Jolly really kill my enjoyment of the game. First 5 rounds (stopped counting then), 9 out of 11 armor rolls against me succeeded (if I counted right). Only ones who survived with the armor intact were 2 AV8 players (one was the Yhetee who decided to stay down the next round anyway...). So basically 100% armor break against AV7. Now, I know AV7 is low but the ratio should still be under 50%. Fortunately only 1 of those was an injury (niggling... I think that lino will be fired now). I knew the AV9 vs AV7 would be a big factor in the match but I was not expecting this. It's not like I can fall back to some dodge/pass play like elves when half my team is KOed.

The kick-off events were bad for me. High kick when I kicked the ball and 2 Perfect Defence when I was receiving... I'm playing in numerical inferiority (and with paper armor it seems) and I don't get even once that "free" bash turn... lame.

My rolls overall were actually quite good I feel, but failed when it really mattered.

I picked the wrong team this season.

Norse? Wrong? What nonsense, you just didnt get enough beer. yet.

Anyways, if youre interested - i played the norse in S1 and the replays are in the google drive + you can just see the raw stats at my BB coach page ingame.

3rd position and that only because i forgot to blitz instead of blocking in the last turn of the whole season - would have done td and secured 2nd position otherwise ;)

And that with what 2 dead berserkers, few retirees and i never got hold of enough money to buy a thrower until the last match - let alone runners :/ ..if i played norse again, ill be sure to build them slightly different way next time.

But norse are very competetive, you just must not let the match turn into grind against av9 orcs or dwarfs and the team will actually last the whole season. more or less..

Yeah norse are quite good, also got to third place with them in last season. Main downside with them its easy to lose the advantage you have by losing a lot of players. Then it becomes an uphill battle and it will be hard to recover.

Runners and beserkers are my favorite players, did yours die or did you only start with one of each to afford an extra werewolf/yhetee? The dauntless on the runners make them useful for removing any stronger opponent, while the beserkers have the block that the werewolves are missing for the frenzy.

And remember even though they arent elves, sometimes when you are forced to do elfish plays they can amaze you :) (or horrible fail you and die when trying :) ).

Should have stuck with my original idea of playing Chaos Dwarfs but I wanted to play a team not represented. Norse would have been a better choice after a league reset.

Norse are good, but it's just too painful playing them until they are developed enough to stand a chance. It's starting too look a bit better. I'm getting the second berserker after this match is validated, my thrower got MVP + 1SPP from a pass, so yay level 2. And I have a level 3 Yhetee! When he does decide to hit something... it hurts. And fortunately my apo turned a Dead to MNG for a Ulf.

Norse linos are one of the best linos in game actually. they dont -need- to level up to lvl2 ever actually. Its nice if they do, but they dont have to like most other teams.

Just make sure runners get dodge (id get 2 runners before berserkers in the future, blodge + mv7 is golden on norse), block on ulffies and youre pretty much set on the right course.

Also id priorize getting few extra linos rather than expensive berserkers if you havent got deep bench. Berserkers break as easily as linos, so it should be rather obvious...

Then again, iven single PO+MB berserker is something very nice to have with that jump ability.
If everything goes as planned, Werecrow and I will be playing in about five hours.

I know what you mean. I just counted (after Hanno/Stampede recently asked me) and I have replaced 15 players so far.
Season 1 = 13 Match Days, Season 2 = 13 Match Days, Season 3 = 7 Match days so far, for a total of 33 Match days. And not all of those matches were played. I remember having two bye matches in season 1.
So 15 crucial stat losses or deaths in max. 33 match days.

BLOOD BOWL!

:-D
Game with Werecrow about to start.

The Orcs win against Hawk's Underworld Team 1-0.

It wasn't a glorious victory, much went wrong and even more went much more unexpected by both players.

The first half started with Hawk setting up a very grindy bash game where he was having a good advantage with his two ultra strong guard-mummies. But soon he started to fail go for its and roll both down rolls that actually took out one of his mummies for good. He never regenerated, I caused 3 casualties among them a death.
I could have easily scored a TD in the first half if my thrower and his useless fumble-fingers skill (i.e. "sure hands") wouldnt have dropped the ball all the time. But after teh first half it was clear that I was having the clear advantage and with more unfortunate bad luck happening to him, loosing all of his rerolls pretty quickly and then rolling double 1s on a very critical going for it to keep me from scoring, sealed his fate.

He did try a dodge to hit my ball carrier in the second to last turn, and would have needed a 6 to pass it...he just rolled a 5 but I thought that plucky ghoul should be commended for his determination.

Seems like the orcs keep on stomping throug hthe division but now Im facing Mafia and Hanno. Pretty sure my luck would have to run around very soon...

It was a good game. I came in half-heartedly, but the die rolls didn't exactly help things.I don't know how many Orcs I bashed (particularly with the Mummies who have Mighty Blow) but I only got one KO the entire game. Still, WereCrow played the better game and he sure as heck had the better players. I'm surprised it was just 1-0, honestly.

We'll see how the Holiday break treats me, but I might be done after this season. I'm not having fun this season. And it's not really about wins or losses, if it was I'd have lost my mind last season. I've atleast broke .500 this season.

It might be I'm just not suited to playing "good" teams and adhering to traditional strategies. I get really frustrated when my strategies fall apart because I've got a one for my luck score. It's just odd, because I really enjoyed 90% of my Halfling games, where I never had a shot to win any game. It could just be I put extra pressure on myself for playing a good team that I have to win or do well, and then hate it when things go wrong? Who knows. I'll need to think about things.

...isnt that easily redeemed by playing ogres (snotlings!) or halflings again?

One should ofcourse play with the team they enjoy, not whats "supposedly good"... Anyways, if you like pulling off weird moves, try vamps sometime in Auld (atleast i really need those 4min turns..) - vamps are probably the most frustrating team when things go really wrong. I have to try either Ogres or Halflings at some point to find out my self :)

About three weeks ago, I came to the conclusion that I am not having fun, and I'm basically waiting out the rest of the season at this point. I know for a fact Zeta isn't having fun anymore. So you're not alone.

As for team types? I don't like strictly bashy teams i'm finding. Nurgle has its moments but overall I will say I won't be playing them again anytime in the near future. Some people can play those god awfully slow, out to kill type of teams, but I certainly cannot.

Maybe you could try your hand at an underworld team in direct competition with Piran? :P

...am I just seeing things, or could it be our US players are "slightly" more competetive than the rest? :D

We're Americans. We're fat and we're not used to losing. It's the American Way.
