DodoGeo: The Red Spiky Team suffered a bitter defeat versus the Hamburg Hammerfists 0-2.

The first half wasn't anything special with the Hammerfists scoring one touchdown. The second halftime went downhill fast with injuries starting to pile up and with crappy block dice rolls wasn't able to hit back in force.

Maybe not the most sportsmanship move, but I quit because there's no point giving free hits or fouls to my opponent while a fat dwarf with the ball waddles on the touchdown line.
Yeah the fat, waddling dwarves gave you a beating, surprisingly. But not without costs: It is actually the first time in the history of the team that I have to replace a player, one of the Troll Slayers.

The runic Sleeping Pills won 2-0 over the Dead Eye Berserkers.
Mainosmies did all he could, but a combination of bad luck, playing against dwarves first and some early injuries gave me the upper hand.

Brok'd Nose Brigade will be taking on the Big & Heavy Fists shortly
Game played, Won 2-0.

Nuffle kind of screwed us both over during critcal actions, especially in the first half, but he favoured me a bti more making rocker's chef completely useless and granting me the dices to inflict some pretty favourable injuries.

Just played my game with Hawk. Was really fun but i was no match against his strong big mummies (really should have gotten dauntless on my last levelups :) ). Was thinking that my TD in turn 2 was perhaps a bit to fast, but after being pushed around for the rest of the game i'm glad i did :).
After my TD Hawk was able to score 2 times before i had a small chance for scoring again. Which i ruined by being to hasty, should have looked at my options for blitzing before doing the almost impossible handoff. But being in the last turn and having only one option (what looked like that for me at the time i tried it) i acted to hastely, ah well could have been worse :).

One question though, before Hawk made his second TD i used a foul. Personally i rather stay away from fouls when playing BB (although i know they are a normal part of the game, just dont like using it myself :) ) i went after the weaker ghoul and got rid of him. Wondering if it was a correct move or perhaps i should have gone after another player or just put up some other kind of defense.

Mummies have pretty much only one weakness - thats their super slow mv of 3 if remember correctly. If the mummy can be ignored, i think its totally valid to just run away from it and if possible, force him to take GFI's to reach your players.

When you have to beat them though, well if you have dauntless, its pretty self explanatory. If not its just matter of trying to pump enough players around him to get that 2d block. If you knock him over, but dont follow, i think he needs to succeed at GFI to blitz you.

Then theres the fouling, knock him over and take a cheapshot - high av and regen dont exactly make it easy, but if i doubt any decent undead coach would still want to risk it :)

On a tough spot, taking a 2 dice negative with block player against the mummy (or any other big guy) is actually super dangerous, especially if you have reroll at hand. But its not something to build your strategy on though.

if i was playing amazons, id try to have few linos with block and dauntless to take care of big guys. then again, couple amazon blitzers with standfirm and guard are rather helpful with that sort of thing as well.

My main issue was that he was hiding his ball carrier behind both the mummies, and the backside of the cage surrounded by more players so i did not saw openings to go in from behind. And with the mummies having guard the two players at the back always were protected at least a little bit, less openings for me to move an assist in. Same with having a go at the mummies, i would have done a 1 dice, if there wasnt always another mummy around giving an assist or just be in the way.

Just feels a bit lousy i just was not able to see any decent actions i could take and get around the mummies, ah well next time i should get dauntless sooner :). Now im doubting if i should put it on my thrower, the only one who leveled after this match. Probably dauntless or safe hands.

well, with amazons it might not be necessarily the best idea to just try to go head to head with the mummies if you cant get 2 dice block. however they havent got block nor tackle, so why not just stall them and the cage, while aiming for other players?

MB+PO blitzer might be good investment in the future :)

If I do anything right with Undead, it's those Mummies. After Week 1, they both got Guard which lets me tie up a huge amount of players with just one Mummy and a useless Skelington or Zombai. If they don't get taken down (like happened in my game against Chaos), they'll eventually take someone down. Then another. And then it's like dominos. They are by far the most reliable "Big Guy" I've ever seen in the game.

The only thing I really noticed from the game, is I don't think you take enough risk as Amazons. You should probably be dodging out of tackle zones and easy blocks I had. Near the end game, I would have probably also taken risk in blocking and done more single die or even red die blocks. While you came close to stopping my game winning TD, it looked like a formality for awhile there.

Overall, I think you played well. I honestly think watching Day of the Doctor at the same time really helped. I'm not a huge Doctor Who fan, but I was excited for it, and that let me relax and play better while watching it.

Honestly, it was a rather bad move IMHO. Your main goal was to prevent Hawk from scoring. Making that foul required moving half of your team out of position. While Hawk didn't really take advantage of it, you moved something like four players out of a position where they could get at the ball carrier if he moved downfield to possibly get rid of a player that wasn't important at that point.

A foul requires that you have payers to spare and that the player fouled is more expensive TV-wise than the player used to foul. Both were questionable here.

Basically what you want is a deep-staggered defense (two players, one after another) over most of the movement path. If he breaks out with his faster players to avoid the slowdown he becomes an easier target since the mummies will remain behind.

had match with cheong - his router apparently "let out the holy smoke", second try starting asap.

edit: just sidenote, i really do hate dwarf blockers with passion, whether chaos or vanilla.

The Match between Misfits (Underworld) and The Expendables (Norse) will start soonish.
Moggrym and I will be having a rematch of the highest scoring game from last season... Though I don't expect it to lead to a 3-3 tie again!

Starts in maybe 10 - 15 minutes!
