As mentioned above, Natural Disaster scored a (very undeserved) 2-1 victory against the Misfits.
The match was difficult to play, for a weird reason: I had installed the community mod lately, and didn't test it thoroughly, so I kept struggling with the interface. The arena had grey stone floor, and I constantly overlooked small goblin players and never had a good grasp of the situation on the pitch. I made a lot of stupid tactical errors and was very lucky that Piranjade kept rolling double-1s when she was in a position to profit from them (I think she had four or five double-1s during the match).
Notable events:
- A last-turn 2-1 touchdown scored from almost the other end of the field, using two long runs and a short pass. Elvish high mobility paid off.
- A goblin without blocking skills preventing an otherwise certain touchdown by sending my catcher (who even had dodge) to the ground on a desperate one-die block, then succeeding with picking up the ball and two go-for-its.
- Chargestone Cackle, one of the Misfits' blitzers, clobbered half of the wood elf team, causing two casualties. He also nearly scored a touchdown when he grabbed the ball and just punched any resistance out of the way. My team is considering to develop a "dirty player" just for the next match against him.
- Nerve-wrecking turmoil right in front of my scoring line, with the ball changing possession practically every turn, eventually resulting in the equalizer for the Misfits.
- Both teams were showered with re-rolls. Disaster received three additional re-rolls through kick-off events, the Misfits four. In a cruel twist of fate, these re-rolls turned out to be practically useless for the Misfits.
- Disaster lost their third player. This time, we actually wanted to save him (he was our only kicker, and an elf team needs a kicker), and the apothecary had changed the "dead" result to "badly hurt", but then it didn't take my input, and the player remained dead. When another player got a -1 AG injury, I had already used up my apo. So we're paying a pretty high price for this victory. I need to run a few tests with the interface, I also (again) had two situations in which my players immediately ran to a spot that I hadn't confirmed yet, thereby making planned blitzes impossible.
In any case, we're happy that we're now back in the middle of the league. :)
Here is the replay.
