I'm wondering, if Hatoful Boyfriend is in here, why not well-known titles like Steins;Gate, the Zero Escape series, Clannad, etc?
Steam seems to have a problem with the sexual element often (but in very different grades, and in any case that's why you have mature ratings) found in the genre, but what is holding GOG back even from the more conventional examples? Does anyone know?
GOG's curation could provide the select best ones in an uncensored state, vs lots of trash and censorship like Steam does.
I think there's an audience for this, but maybe I'm missing some business-model factor here.

GOG's curation can pick out the good ones but that's not going to stop people from thinking all VNs are porn, no matter what shows up here. So's a root canal but we don't have a dental simulator now, do we? :)

edit: Having said that, I have a few clients who publish with Ren'Py but they release for free/ donations/ Patreon. I doubt many of them would want to see their games listed on a store. *shrug*

Visual novels already have several excellent storefronts, with focus on being DRM-free and low censorship. Plus that they often have their own translation teams. Having to share revenue with GOG/Steam does not help much in translating more VNs.

I nowadays try to buy exclusively from the specialised storefronts when possible, and try to push acquaintances to do the same. I don't think GOG have that much to offer since DRM-free is a valued priority for many of the other stores too.

I could mention a couple that I have watched, and which I happened to like, but which much of the userbase here might not (in particular, these might actually be too niche for GOG), and which might be worthwhile if you don't mind some LGBT-themed content:

1. My Guild Leader is a Demon ( https://0xabad1dea.itch.io/mgliad1 ): This is a free kinetic novel (that is, no gameplay) about demons playing video games (including an MMO). Note that the video on the page isn't a trailer; it's the entire thing. There's two episodes out at the moment, and it's pretty lighthearted. (If you like some of the posts I make in controversial topics, you will likely like this game.) The author describes this as "very silly queer fiction".

2. Secret Little Haven ( https://ristar.itch.io/secret-little-haven ): This $5 visual novel is about discovering that one is transgender on the early Internet. The game takes place in a virtual operating system, with the story portrayed via chat, though there's other things you can do here. Be aware that this game gets pretty serious; there's a reason the game comes with a content warning, as the game could be triggering to some people. (I have not purchased or played this game, but I think I want it, even though it's very different from what I usually play, and I have watched someone play it on twitch.)
