zoomzoomquoi: that I see all the games that come out and the time we have to wait for them to arrive we reward them more than they reward us on gog we deserve more major releases such as doom 2016 or ninja gaiden 2 black that when we look at everything that comes out on steam at crazy speed and we see that dear gog we have to wait for significant delays life is short and I admit sometimes not having the patience it takes for gog and I'm sorry for example we don't have Rise of the Tomb Raider or doom 2016 and there are so many other games so I don't understand why we have to wait so long for certain games like for example with tomb raider goty but not rise of tomb raider it doesn't make sense we have to wait too long for such old titles don't understand life is ultra short so it's hard to stay loyal to you stop game porno :( gog :)
The reason is quite simple. DRM-Free is not the way of the world. DRM-Free when it occurs is a kind of exception, and many game developers and owners and publishers do not like DRM-Free ... some hate it very much.
A lot of folk seem to take GOG and DRM-Free for granted, when in reality GOG have chosen a hard and difficult road by only being DRM-Free, and that severely limits the choice of games we get here.
And don't forget, media owners are steadily moving to the stream only model, which will eventually impact games too. In a way, that is the worst DRM of all.
As an example, look at several TV series now, that you simply cannot buy the discs of, except through some suss Chinese site. Owners want to retain full control of their product. It is truly frustrating and annoying, and anti-consumer.
In a very real way, we are lucky that we have GOG and ZOOM Platform and some others, and in 10 years, they may no longer exist or be severely reduced.
And it is not just about the owners either. Many customers just want access to everything and have the money to pay for that kind of streaming service model. And lets be honest, a good number of folk, no doubt the majority, consume once and then move on to the next appealing thing. And it is even the case, that more things are tried now with that kind of model, because it doesn't cost anything more to experiment, give something a try.
So at the end of the day, it is about the negatives versus the positives, of not actually owning anything ... except our devices ... and that may even change in the future to just renting.
The future is all about flexibility and access to a huge number of things I guess.
