If you have been carefully following our main page, you have seen tens of interviews and editorial pieces we’ve posted over the years. Many of these articles garnered quite a lot of attention from you, fellow gamers, yet after some time they eventually faded to obscurity. That’s why we’ve decided to create a hub that will let us not only post our editorials from the past but also present you with more interesting video game content in the future.

Visit our blog to read articles from the past about the cult Blade Runner game from Westwood Studios or the legendary FPS Quake that celebrated its 25th anniversary lately. You’ll also find some new editorials on our blog. For example, a piece about the Bioshock games or an interesting bio of Michel Ancel, the creator of the Rayman series. Now you can enjoy all these articles both as a nostalgic blast from the past or as inspiration for the next gaming session!

As for the future of the blog, we would like to continue posting engaging articles there, highlighting classic and new games, as well as both AAA and indie titles. Of course, to create such a place of gaming content, we need your precious feedback. So, please visit the blog, and let us know in the comment section below this post, what type of content you would like to see on our blog in the upcoming months.
Can we exchange the forum's news posting bot with the person who writes the blog articles ? :p

keeveek: GOG might had stood for Good Old games, but c'mon, not THAT old... :P

Littermate: BAH! You millennials get off my lawn! There's nowt wrong with RSS feeds. :-)
Actually, I do mean that. I use the GOG RSS feed for the news items at the bottom of the screen. They usually sink into the depths very quickly, thence forth no where to be found, but with the RSS feed they persist for MUCH longer - I can see the news items all the way back to last year which as far as I'm concerned is awesome. Use a good RSS reader; I currently use Inoreader.com which looks very nice.
AMEN

Thanks for the recommendation, never heard about Inoreader.com before :)

keeveek: So that's what GOG was missing to finally overthrow Steam. A blog.

zakius: respecting own rules regarding DRM would be sufficient, unfortunately it seems they gave up on that
Are you referring to the Hitman (2016) controversy, or just in general?

Interesting! However, like others have noted - it really needs RSS. I don't have the time or inclination to check several dozens of websites regularly, that's the whole point of using a system like RSS so an automated tool can do it for me and I can then look at the articles I'm interested in when time allows.

So please add RSS!
I would second suggestions that the mod spotlights (and any other "get the most out of such-and-such game" news posts) be included.

PaterAlf: Am I blind or is there no link to the blog on the main page?
Currently, I think the only "official" link to the blog is in this news post. (To be fair, I would guess they might be waiting to integrate blog links into the site at large until they've solidified its features and content a bit more.)
I would hope that soon they will have a link to it under "About" (or maybe "Community"?) in the nav bar, and also somewhere in the footer.
Absolutely need an RSS feed. A blog isn't really a blog without RSS
@GOG: It would be cool if you could fix the post dates. We all know that the oldest of those posts didn't just spring into existence on February 22, 2022, but it might cause confusion for people who're new to the site, as well as those who simply missed the posts when they were actually new. Alternatively, you could at least add a link to the original news post and/or to that post's comment thread (including a correct link to any such thread that was later archived in 2015(?), since the original news posts' links to their comment threads were not retroactively updated when the Great Archiving happened).

BreOl72: What's the difference between this thread (which will sink down into the forum's abyss), and the "tens of interviews and editorial pieces, posted over the years", which came before it?
For one thing, the blog is searchable, unlike the News section (which you can only effectively search via offsite tools like Google) or the forum (whose native search function is so broken, it's effectively in the same boat as the News section).

---

I wonder if this is a sign that they're planning to can regular news posts entirely? Given the utter lack of effort evident in most release posts for the last while, it wouldn't surprise me. I do think it would be a shame, though.
None of the posts there currently appeal to me, although I like the idea. It looks like there are tags at the bottom of the posts but no tag index. I suggest devoting a significant portion of the main blog page to a tag index showing a variety of content (and, of course, also adding a varity of content... looks like almost all RPG stuff at the moment).

Also, floating text that covers the article is quite annoying. Similar to the game search but worse. The home and end keys exist, no need to cover up anything. Floating sidebars are also annoying but at least don't cover anything.

Tarhiel: Bethesda want´s to add new content to it and use it as an incentive for their own launcher

WinterSnowfall: I believe their launcher is pretty much dead and buried since the MS acquisition.
Their launcher is dead, it's actually being shut down today (May 11). Sunsetting the Bethesda.net Launcher & Migrating to Steam

Hey old man! You do realise that some of us millennials are in our 30s and 40s right? Might wanna direct those complaints toward our kids if you don't wanna date yourself. ;P (Also, declaring you have a yard isn't a very good way to hide your age either. Just sayin.)

Thanks for the tip.

Personally, I'm more interested in a GOG blog that covers developments on GOG itself, rather than editorial spreads on video games. I'd be interested to read about the work the team does with securing these older games and fixing them up and whatever else in-between. GOG is a product and it needs to start being marketed as such if it has any hope of thriving!

There was an interesting interview with Falcom's president. It seems that it's missing from the blog (Please add it) as some other interesting articles too from other games that others have pointed.

GOG.com: ...
Please add in a "mod spotlight" section for the mod spotlights GOG have posted over the years. You could potentially also do a "tech tips" section, such as highlighting how to tweak emulation settings (or give a brief overview with links to DOSBox, ScummVM, etc. sites and more in-depth info on tweaking) and about fan patches that a lot of people might find useful.

Also stuff from the GOG Tumblr; it appears the interview with Harvester's Lee Jacobson isn't in the blog database. (Any reason to add in/archive Instagram pics too on the blog? Or not really?)

http://gogcom.tumblr.com/post/78954868646/harvester-interview (I can't view it because I don't have a Tumblr account);
from here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general_archive/gem_promo_harvester

I'll be honest, personally I rarely read stuff GOG posts, but if you think this is a worthwhile investment, very well! (not sure if "blog" is the right term, more like "article database" but that may sound too nerdy :P)
