Swedrami: Current ranking of the Playstation PC ports released on GoG thus far, by all-time sales (gog.com/games?order=desc:bestselling)

Horizon Zero Dawn (GoG release: 24-11-2020): Page 6, 249th Place
Days Gone (GoG release: 25-10-2023): Page 43, 2059th Place
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (GoG release: 21-11-2023): Page 63, 3006th Place

Assuming that the drop-off in sales figures from the first page with the couple-million-sellers isn't too steep and declines in a steady manner the further back in the all-time bestsellers list you go, they're not doing that bad, all things (delayed [by years] releases, the later Uncharted installments being the less demanded ones, people's patience running out due to no specific release dates, etc) considered.
avatar
tfishell: Side-question: how did you get this info easily?
(Correctly) Assuming that they must be at least somewhere in the upper half (pages 96-1) of the currently 192 pages of the all-time bestsellers list, and going backwards through the pages, one by one.

Hurricane0440: Some users did mention it would be coming shortly after the Winter Sale, in January or at least by February (this month).

Well, it seems like we've almost passed those speculated dates and it still hasn't been released.

BreOl72: "Speculated" is the key word here.

Just because "some users" "speculated" it would get released at a certain date, doesn't make it so.
I am very well aware that it was a mere speculation, but you have to admit that it's taking a ridiculous amount of time to release after being listed. That's why I was asking if anyone knows why there seems to be a holdup.

"Ridiculous amount of time"
Welcome to GOG.

Xeshra: I am somehow not satisfied with the low Days Gone°° sales... a game that should deserve more buyers, i got it too. With Uncharted i do unfortunately understand the issue... people want a complete series.

°°Although it was weak "performing" on the other platforms too... which is a myth to me because it is a wonderful game with a great atmosphere. For some reason it just did not hit the majorities taste.
Days Gone is a great game but had a delayed release which increased costs. It was also pretty glitchy on release (although not that bad compared to games now but pretty bad on release) and was lambasted by game critics. Maybe it was to show that game critics weren't in Sony's pocket and praising every exclusive but Days Gone was chosen at the whipping boy for every profesional game reviewer.

Its a shame because it is a really great game but thanks to poor reviews and sales, Bend was almost folded into ND and a sequel is pretty much dead. Bend's next game is a new IP and a spiritual successor though.
Don't tell the community about GOW, get fans complaining it's not here yet.
Tell the community about GOW, get even more fans complaining it's not here yet.

Lesson to be learned, GOG. Tell us LESS about potential releases. *rolls eyes*

I think this is a case of not telling enough. It would be great to have an estimated time for God of War to fully release. I have to say that I am really looking forward to this one. :-D

Like tfishell said it was not speculation, Clownski said it was coming "shortly" after the winter sale, and then in mid january the official twitter replied to a comment by saying that "they were trying to bring it ASAP"

So yeah, hard to blame GOGers for this one

If you haven't got the game yet, tell us you're working on it and how it's looking.
If you have it, release it ffs! If you don't want to release it right away, at least give a bloody release date and keep it!

That vague "soon" bullshit is just annoying.

Thanks. I thought maybe it was part of an add-on, extension, etc. a user made for the site.

Knowing it's possibly coming is far better to me than not knowing at all. But clearly some people want the immeasurable term soon to be measurable and they demand transparency over how far GOG is in the middle of a delicate (and potentially confidential) negotiation.

You can't give ETAs in a negotiation phase; it's going to take as long as it takes.

In the meantime, play something else maybe?

I can confirm the places for Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted but Swedrami either miscalculated Days Gone or people have been buying it frequently in the last 15 hours since he checked because the game is now at place 2051.

Source: The utility I just wrote that queries GOG's server. I have also checked manually if place 2051 is correct.

Thanks. The page number (sorted by Bestselling (All-Time) of course) is mainly what interests me; DG is indeed found on Page 43. Looks like 48 per page in column view (though I may have mis-counted; 50 would make more sense)

43 / 192 definitely ain't too shabby, though perhaps somewhat to be expected since it is a AAA title. Maybe Sony overexpected and GOG overhoped. Still I don't think we'll see something like GoW pulled from the store even before releasing.

The thing is, when some games have been "coming soon" for years, does it really count as knowing anything?

Soon implies that it is in fact coming, which means you have a deal and don't have to string your customers along.
If you don't have a deal yet or if it is dependent on circumstances out of your control (like minimum sales figures for another title), it might not be coming at all which is definitely not soon.

What if the deal falls through last second? You've already announced the game months in advance. And now you're basically like "Good news, everyone! It's not coming after all!" which is sure to make a lot of people very happy.

So, in this case GOG should have told us that they are in negotiations with Sony for GoW, instead of presenting it as a done deal. The way it has been handled so far looks very unprofessional.

Given the recent PlayStation sale and the newsletter discount ad for Days Gone that's supposed to go out tomorrow, I am beginning to think that GOG must hit certain sales targets, before Sony releases Dad of War.

I think if we really want GOW, we just have to buy Sony's other games first.

I can also confirm that "shortly after the winter sale" was a statement made by Clownski on Discord. After enough time has passed and lots of speculation, we got told that there were some contractual hold-ups.

Hirako__: As for Uncharted sales being low - they are low even on Steam compared to all other their games.

Breja: It's almost as if releasing only the concluding chapter of the series on PC made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Well... God of War is basically God of War 4 too, so... Or 7, if you wish to count the spinoffs.

That being said, I agree that leaving gaps in PC releases is annoying. Unfortunately Sony has this dumb idea in their heads that PC gamers refused to buy any game that doesn't have over-the-top modern graphics.
Both uncharted and God of War should get the Halo MCC treatment.
