A fantastic trip in 2019 with my best friends to a historic place in my country. A trip that will be forever marked in my memory.

I'm in for all but the Shadown Man giveaway. I know I should be jumping at the chance but the game has always freaked me out for some reason... and I would hope it goes to someone who loves it and would play it. I just know I wouldn't. So...

... my remembrance from childhood...

I was middle-school age and my father and I were walking the misty morning boundaries of our rural property -- part of a larger farm that had been passed through generations. It wasn't often that Dad took any time from working... and even more rare that we spent time alone together outside of work, but so is the way of many country folk. We wandered across the pre-dawn pasture fields into the sparsely wooded hills and then deeper into the dense forest. Light grew dim -- until we came to a strange circular clearing with a hill in the middle. Dad climbed the hill and pulled me up just as the sunrise broke through the clouds above. With the angle of the incline and lifting fog, it looked like we could keep walking up into the clouds and golden light... into heaven...

I have never to this day experienced anything like this. The mundane had suddenly become spiritual (and I say this as someone who is not particularly religious).

We stood there silently for a long, long time.

After finishing our day, I wouldn't stop thinking about that experience; I'd search for that spot many times since -- even asking my Dad's aid (he never could quite remember exactly where that hill was located) -- but never found it again. It's like it was there for my Dad and I to find that waking early-morning... and then just disappeared.

(postcript: I'm sure this spot exists -- although it's probably quite overgrown and unrecognizable now -- but I certainly never found it)

As to how/why I do it: I do it through some good luck on my end and a desire to spread the love others(like Doc and etc) have spread the the community in the past.

The current sale brought me here, I'm in.

When I was little our parents didn't allow us to have a pet dog. So I and my siblings often fed our neighbor's dog leftover food and play with her every day. It got so attached to us that it stayed at our front door day and night.

We were very sad when she died, so our dad took us to a pet store and bought us our first dog. It was a Dachshund (sausage dog), he was a cheerful and active dog. Having a pet when you grow up really teaches you responsibility, you have to feed it, take it for a walk, clean after it, and giving it a lot of attention.
But it was worth it.

Nice, did you guys ever put a hot dog bun costume on it?

We all know that the Virus came and with that comes some additional travel restriction. So it's really great when my sister' family came by to visit with our 3 nephew. And how the hell she can managed 3 kids at the same time is still a mystery XD I'm exhausted in just 3 hours handling them

From the past 2 years, I have to admit that I enjoy the 2 months lockdown. March and April 2020 were sunny, no need to go to work, so I could be focused on gaming and reading in the garden (Terry Pratchett's books). An unexpected break, but I know it wasn't as good for everyone. Sometimes, you have to find the good in the bad to keep your sanity !

I had a similar experience.....we found a pet outside(no owner) and brought it in. At first the parents were hesitant, but they grew to love it as well, and it became a fondly cherished part of the family for the rest of it's life.

I hear ya....pets are often a gift and joy to have around.

Totally...pet costume pics/memes are some of the highlights of the internet. :D

Family knows how to get along with family, usually....sure, there can sometimes be arguments and whatnot, but a tightly knit family seems to be able to get along when all is said and done.

Also btw: glad to hear ya had some fun moments with your relatives in these trying times. :)

I usually do a bit of both in such games....I make a map & then try to do without it unless need be.

Good books and relaxation....a combination that is often quite good. :)

A map of all levels entrances is included as goodies. Also an official guide. A shame that goodies became the exception in new releases. Nowadays, even the manual isn't provided...

I have Shadow Man but still have to play it. I'll gladly use the provided map then as I'm very bad at making those. I realized when attempting Eye of the Beholder as a kid with graph paper and I could never get things right. Also with gamebooks like Grail Quest but soon realized that it wasn't my fault but the inconsistensies in the description and the world map, I believe. Brennan was a funny and creative author but not exactly a dungeon master. I remember the joy of having automapping in Doom! Moreover, I still get lost in my own city and have to check my phone to get my bearings. XD

Afaik the ip holders sometimes need permission to upload manuals as well.....like in cases where the art/etc in them is owned by someone else.

That said I hear ya.....thankfully we have replacementdocs and other sites for such, eh?

I hear ya on EOB series.....one of my "gripes" with the series was sometimes getting lost(in part due to the areas that teleported the player or turned them around) as I played. :)
