Crossovers are optional if there's a common theme between the settings like "Bionicle's Great Beings are the same as Marvel's Celestials" or "It's just Lost with Transformers". At risk of losers feeling cheated, the winner will be chosen entirely by my subjective appreciation. Most of the things I like in a story take longer to write than I am allowing, but I also want to give this game away quickly so 1 day is a compromise.

Rules are simple: The story must be at least 1 paragraph long (longer is better) and you need to understand whoever or whatever you describe. That means everyone is in-character, there are no contradictions with official stories, and the story makes imaginative use of traits and lore that haven't appeared in official media.

Not in since I already own both it and Shadow of War on GOG (and have them on Steam, too) but man, I loved Bionicle as a kid! I really loved those ones that you could roll up into a ball, I can't remember what they were called, but they were definitely my favorite type. I think it was partly because it reminded me of Samus from Metroid in her morph ball form haha

You're thinking of the Bohrok, which had nesting patterns much like the arachnids that live on all of our faces. Also I built a Bionicle Samus, she's 80% orange and uses the chest-spheres from 2008 as shoulder-pads. Was it the Miramax trilogy where they didn't quite look like the toys, the 2015 botched reboot where everybody was stupid, or something else? It still wows me that Miramax made a AAA-grade soundtrack for straight-to-DVD toy commercials.

Actually, it was the one where the story revolves around two kids (if I remember correctly) on an adventure of recovering a golden mask or something. And the mask would change the appearance of the wearer once worn. It was the old version that I watched, as it was already a long time ago and I don't remember watching any other Bionicle movies since then.

EDIT: It was the Bionicle: Mask of Light movie. Also, I just realized that the movie I talked about is actually part of the Miramax trilogy you mentioned lol. Now I might actually watch the other two movies in the future after knowing this fact.

Both are about prequels by the way, from when the village elders were rookie heroes in part 2 and mutated by spider venom in part 3. Keep in mind that when there's a double solar eclipse in part 2, that's seriously God entering a coma.

In terms of telling the story, Bionicle is horrifically fractured into several mediums. The Miramax trilogy is years 3, 4, and 5; the best ways to get the story of years 1 and 2 are the Mata Nui Online games (preserved) and Masks of Power (fan-made) on the fan site https://biomediaproject.com/bmp/. There's also The Voya Nui Online game for 2006 and comics/novels for every year, but the literature tells just as much a fraction of each year as the other mediums. It all came to a screeching halt when a major character is banished to another planet in 2009 and had half an adventure (and crappy movie, made by the same people as Food Fight) to himself before the story was canceled; we skipped over a year or so of content to get a badass ending that makes kaiju movies look like bacteria documentaries.

I see. One more question if you don't mind. I've already started playing the Mata Nui online game, and I wonder whether the chapters need to be played in chronological order? I found myself skipping to chapter 4 already since the game basically allows you to travel to wherever you want from the get go. With that in mind, I have to say I'm quite enjoying the game so far. You get a better feel of the story if you just do everything sequentially. You may have missed Gali defending Ga-Koro from a boxing tread-lizard or yourself discovering that a shady merchant is selling infected sports-rocks to athletes in Po-Koro.

Also, the higher framerate of modern machines makes the turret section towards the hive way too difficult; I rage-quit for the night over that reason and chapter selection is the closest thing to a save function.
