myconv: Has it started? The first post still says 2-3 weeks
First post was made on October 25. Do the math.
xD oh my clown! entanglement! Cheese puffs! Forgetting everything Jabbar opened first pack out of massive cartoon and started to share with Bosco... Man! This is freaky! What's her name? .... Bosco turned to the Large Woman... What is your name Love? I'm Alusia... We can do something funny together. Like what? asked Jabbar.... Ooh! Jabby Jabby Jabb... Like this....
Bosco laughed.... Can we call you Loosy? Sure Bossy Bossy... Now hold my hands... and keep feeding me with puffs... This is one of a kind show!...
I hadn’t realized it until now, and ThatGuyWithTheThing’s spreadsheet made it clearer for me: So there will be 5 rounds for each pairing, with each round having the activities mentioned in the first post, and Doc will be presenting all this stuff with a description of 3-5 paragraphs for each pairing’s round? This requires some serious imaginative writing on Doc’s behalf for all these contestants, matches and rounds!!
Bosco learned two things from his last performance at clown school.

On the one hand, dental hygiene is really important, because Bosco would never have been able to keep the steering wheel under control with his third set of teeth, and on the other hand, he can always rely on his good old friend Jabbar.
A precision landing :D

The spreadsheet, in its current form, is just a "draft" of sorts. I don't know how many rounds there will be.

Doc0075: This giveaway is open to all Goglodytes and will start in 2 - 3 weeks time.

With such a vague start date and Doc editing that fiirst post even a few days ago It would be reasonable to assume that it would be announced when it started or that at least the OP would be edited to say it started. I have been regularly checking that OP for any info as to whether it started and for those words about starting in 2-3 weeks to change.

So how do I join in? May I still join in? When did it start? I can't know because "2-3" is not a specific time frame.

myconv:
Doc's post 170 specifically states that it would start on the following day (as it did).

You've already joined, and you're #24, paired with TPJ in pairing number #28.

It started around 3 weeks after the first post, on the 12th of November, with Doc giving us updates on when it's about to start every few days.

I hope this clears all confusion.

You mean in replies to the thread? It doesn't seem reasonable to expect people to know to look there. Also why edit OP if not to edit that it started and edit out 'going to start'. OP is where I've been looking to all this time.

We are suppose to do something where we compete for points, right? I'm still unclear exactly how this works.

Have I missed/default lost regarding competing with TPJ and am down on points? How do I know when to do a "move" or whatever? Would someone please explain more on how exactly this works. I apologize that I can't get it even if it may have been 'clearly explained'

Someone is giving away literally hundreds of games, bought with his own money. He is doing so in a super entertaining manner through creative writing. Reading his posts in this thread is pretty much the entire point! Please update your definition of reasonable.

Read the first Fight Club (as linked to by Doc in post #1) to get a general idea of how this works.

You're character #24 (as listed in post #4), and you're in slot #28 (as listed in post #5) for the first round of Clown School. Points will only be awarded (by other players, communicated directly to Doc) once Doc has rolled dice to determine how you both do at the activity, and then used that input together with the creativity you put into your character, to write up something creative and entertaining.
Reading Doc's descriptions and cheering on your favorite characters is encouraged, but there's nothing you have to do other than what you already did (creating a character), and possibly at some point rating the performance of other clowns (for which Doc will contact you).

Which I was doing, in the OP. My whole point is that I had no reason to think to look in replies for Docs post, NOT that it was unreasonable to read Docs post. Please, it feels a little sanctimonious when you talk to me like that. I don't like it. It feels like people on Gog just randomly virtue signal at my expense sometimes. I get it, you're the better goger

Ohh, I thought we were suppose to write up what kind of action we were taking.

So is ranking/points entirely luck based and not on our writing?

All the role-playing posts not by Doc are just unstructured messing around for fun?

Players will award points to other players? I don't see anything like that in the OP. Awarding points for the 'performance' that Doc is writing up?

#139 contains the explanation of the basic idea. #145 contains a slight clarification.

myconv:
You have a point at that, yes, everything will eventually be determined by Doc’s dice and by pure luck. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t “roleplay” with our created character (if one has got time out of real life obligations to do it, that is). So, for example, when a round of your character has ended, you can easily build upon the description written by Doc, and describe e.g. how your character is feeling at that time, how he anticipates the next rounds, etc.. And, at the end of it all, you can write an epilogue for your character (regardless of the results), about his overall experience.
Thank you Gogtrial, CarChris and everyone else that tried to help as well.

Doc0075: I will then choose two of your fellow trainee clowns at random to mark your performance from 1 - 5.

Beyond being incredibly generous, Doc's giveaways are huge endeavours to promote community participantion and positive interaction, so while nothing other than giving your character a name and the briefest description you can muster is really required, not even scoring when you're asked to, reading the whole thread and maybe also any related works done by the community and participating if/when/how you can is rather the whole point. The prizes are a bonus.

On the topic of scoring though, has anyone been asked to score yet? Or will that happen at the end?
Sure am nervous that if I'll be asked I'll be unfair or otherwise get it wrong... But let's see...
