This year I didn't spent much time as I used to around GOG forums, but that "wall of text" was one of the most enjoying posts I've read this year. Just wanted to let you know. I guess we all like when we find out somebody is thinking/feeling in similar direction as ourselves. No matter how big or small the subject is. :)

this year I had the goal to complete a specific course at my university but still had to take exams that were prerequirements
I finished them in the first half of the year and had a great summer break
this semester i qualified for the course and finished it on 30 november

so i had an taxing year at university but could reap the fruits of my work :)

another thing that went well: my dog broke her leg in september but she's healed now with no lasting problems

1. Hurricane Harvey did a lot of harm to my area. Just north of me many homes were flooded, and south of me--you probably saw it on tv--it looked like a big lake with treetops and rooftops sticking through the surface. My little area was not flooded much, somehow, and for that I am very glad and grateful.
2. Last night I found a picture I took of my puppy Rudy on the first day he came home with us. It's attached.
3. This year my wife and I made final payments on her student loans.
4. The Astros won the World Series.

I'm in for...maybe Fallout 3, maybe Sorcerer Kings, maybe something I'm not thinking of. Thanks to ZFR for doing this.

I've been pondering if I wanted to enter this giveaway. I've received what easily feels like more than my fair share of games here on gog over the last year. I've given some as well, but value received definitely overwhelms value given.
Yet what we perceive as value differs from person to person, and everyone can come out ahead if you look at the wider scope. I am not taking unfair advantage of the people who gave me games. They themselves decided that they wanted to give games away, and what makes it all worth it for them. Similarly, I frequently give other people advice on any of the numerous subjects I know a lot about, and by spending minutes of my time, save someone else multiple hours of figuring it all out on their own. These people are not taking unfair advantage of me. I'm gladly helping them, and I expect at least some of them to pay it forward too, in their respective areas of expertise. Or maybe just by spending those hours they saved to brighten the life of someone else, or even to go do something solitary they enjoy, thereby ending up in a better mood and maybe managing to share some of this mood with random strangers they end up interacting with.

I'm in for either Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun or The Dwarves, assuming at least one of them has a decent discount during the sale.

As for positive things to think of and appreciate... I really am extremely lucky to be surrounded by a veritable cornucopia of them. I generally think I am quite aware of this. But I shall now endeavor to hold this even more clearly in mind, and express my awareness and gratitude of this as well.

This year I completely cleared my backlog of games in my collection! Granted I did not actually complete most of them, but I at least tried every single one and gave them a chance. Those that I enjoyed I then completed.

I'm in for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

I'm thankful for GOG. It's unlike any other store on the internet and so far, I've had a great time gaming offline and I'm really thankful for it. I've had a really good experiences with it so far and I can truly say I'm a fan and it was worthwhile for me as well. I love it.

I'm in! I'm not sure which games I'm in for, but I have a collection of GOG games now, and I'm exploring them to figure out what kind of games I like. I don't play games very often, but I have started to do it recently as sort of forced recreation. I used to think of it as a waste of time, but it turns out there are a lot of positive benefits to gaming that I learned recently from TED talks:

But seriously, what am I happy about?
1) After 2 very challenging years, I'm reunited with my kid. Instead of schlepping back and forth, we get to spend time every day, and I'm grateful for the time (and hugs) I get now, and that she has the regular influence of parent #2 to be more grounding.

2) And we also have our first "real" home together - the 4th in 4 years for the kiddo, and I think my 5th place in that span. But in theory, we'll be where we are for at least a few years.

3) I've survived the first year in a job that is literally insane, and actually have managed to find some calm, and organization, and humor in all of the stress and chaos.

4) Of all the places on the internet - and I get this place ain't what it used to be, yada yada - I still enjoy coming here to gog as a place where most of my conversations with strangers are positive, or amusing, or involve trolling yogsloth.

Edit - though i guess that last is redundant, as trolling yogsloth is both positive AND amusing.

I’m trying to live with such an attitude for quite some time already. Stopping and enjoying all those little things that I usually ignore, burdened by numerous problems. The hardest thing is to admit it’s hard. Like, really, REALLY hard. How to enjoy the beauty around you when you are bombarded by thoughts about sick family members, financial problems, faulty appliances, assholes you meet every day etc. How to do that? Sure, I’m aware that by the nature of these things it will be hard: these thoughts are very chaotic, they appear out of nowhere just to be replaced by other similar thoughts. And chaos just happens. Enjoying the beauty around you brings an order so you have to put some work to achieve it (the second law of thermodynamics and all that fancy stuff ;) So yeah, it’s hard, and knowing that it will be hard doesn’t make it easy. It’s a struggle. But it’s worth it.

I’m in for Spellforce 3 which should be released tomorrow.

Life can suck.

But on the other hand, it's kinda amazing we're here at all, and butterflies and love and bunnies and stuff. So...glass half full?
