DizNL: Sorry i asked for a key with an expiration date which the publisher agreed with to give free codes for.
I don't have the disposable income to buy every game that i'm interested in. I was genuinly interested in this game but recently spent all my saved up money for games on the Witcher 3 CE and bought the Expansion Pass 2 days before the GOG summer sale. Once i am done with Witcher 3 i will play this game that i didn't have the money for anyway so the publisher didn't lose a sale, but has gained a potential fan.

I'm sorry that me asking for this key made you feel bad, and that you think of me as a pirate. Even though the last game i "pirated" was World of Warcraft because i didnt have the money to pay for a sub 10 years ago. But later went on to sub to that game for 8 years straight.

Every key i had a dupe of i have given away back to the community. i admit i haven't done a lot of giveaways from my own bank account because my finances don't allow it yet since im at an internship right now where i make 100 euros a month and only keep around 10 euros per month for budget on videogames. But once i am done with my college and am able to spend more money i am definitly planning to give back to the community.

Stick around the community and instead of spreading a negative vibe try doing something positive for a change instead of bashing the people giving back to the community. Hopefully you will be around when i am in the position to host my own big giveaway.

I hope to have informed you enough about my personal reasons that i asked for the XENONAUTS key.
its ok im not upset on you.. but i dont like when others offer you stuff and then accusing and poking your eyes afterwards why they give it in the first place? perhaps they want to make you will bad after

It's not against GOG's policy to have a backlog. That wasn't the point here.

The point is, since the sale started, we see several people who have never actively participated on the GOG forums (which, in its own right, is fine), suddenly become very active, but ONLY on giveaway threads.
Now that's perfectly ok and in several cases, the askers did in fact get one or more games gifted to them.

What you seem to be neglecting, is that these people are giving away THEIR OWN PROPERTY FOR FREE, and as such they can decide to whom, and under which conditions, to do so. If you do not adhere to these conditions, it's hardly strange that the gifters become upset.

Most gifters like to give their games to people who would actually play the games; otherwise, the whole point of gifting becomes moot. Similarly, if one receives one or more gifts and just keeps asking for more, we hardly get the impression that one is grateful and/or going to actually play their games (rather than retrade them for instance).

The fact that people then become angry if they do not get even MORE games, is actually quite insulting to gifters.
Now, if you want people on this community to treat you fairly, you could start with accepting that you will not get every game you ask for, as well as being a bit more civilized in your replies and not insulting other, mostly highly active and well respected, members of this community.

Just my two cents.

I haven't used the word scam.
I just pointed out the fact that obviously, you did not intend to PLAY the game you got for free but instead you traded it. That was against the gifter's explicit wishes so it's not weird that they are upset, is it?

Pater specifically said that the games were for the use of the person he gave them to only, there is no way you didn't know this since you got games from the exact same giveaway. You then immediately went behind his back to get them.

Scam: a dishonest scheme. We're calling it exactly what it is.

Don't give me the whole victimless crime angle BS, it hurts the community when stunts like this are pulled. Also games being given away for free in exchange for games that cost money, not really the best deal.

The entire point is you did something you knew you weren't supposed to. This has been explained time and time again by a half dozen different individuals.

This thread has already gone to hell. Maybe some sort of regulated giveaway would be more appropriate? It might be an extra hassle, but it could also prevent such situations from developing.
