The "new, better" THQ 64 bit re-release is crap; the melee bug with the block/counterparry is nullifying any satisfaction from participating in melee. And that's only a single bug; there are extra new ones introduced too (in place of those few old ones that were eliminated, I suppose).

Knowing THQ's history with the other re-released titles and seeing they had financial restructuring as of lately, they won't address this anytime soon, and now we are left with this botched release that's gonna be used by everyone by default, since there's no alternative available.

Add the "old" installer back to the offline installers tab for the game, please. I need it, since it's the only one that's majorly compatible with the various tools and source codes (for plugins) created by the community before the THQ re-release.

And while you would be adding it back, please remove the sub-installer for nVidia PhysX Legacy package. Risen runs perfectly with the newest PhysX (9.21.0713, dated 15.10.2021) bundle. It was also confirmed by NicoDE (nickname of one of the main coders of the title) that you don't need the legacy package, because Risen uses v2.8.1 of PhysX and that version is included in the newest package from above [even though the game would run on the Legacy version of up to 2.7.2].

Be a distributor that fixed a problem that a publisher created: we need access to a proper 32 bit installer of Risen.

Cheerio.

You might want to write a ticket. Reactions to forum posts are very very rare.

ps: Have you tried rolling back to an earlier game version using Galaxy?

That's nothing new.

GOG & Larian left a game-breaking bug in the game Divinity: Original Sin 1 for almost 5 years, before Larian finally fixed it.

And that bug was also introduced in an update that added a new language.

GOG easily could have remedied that problem immediately, and allowed customers to bypass that bug, by making all offline installers for that game available.

But they never did. Instead, they let that bug fester and wreck the GOG version of the game for those 5 years.

So good luck with that re-occurrence of this same kind of problem. I hope they solve this one faster, if at all, although I wouldn't expect that they will, given the history of the incident I just described.

Also they haven't released the missing updates for the GOG version.
I see my offline Risen installers are 2015, v 2.0.0.6 (whatever that means).

I'd offer to upload so you can get it, but i doubt that will matter much, not to mention it would take a long time to upload.

Hey. I found some torrent and used it download the version you have, since this is the one I had too in Risen's offline installers tab, before THQ's re-release took over. Thanks for the offer, still.

But this is so retarded I have to resort to such practice: Steam still lets the owners of Risen to choose between the 32 bit (old) and 64 bit (new) releases.

Sure. However, I tried that several times for other problematic situations over the last few years but to no avail. In comparison, at its inception (around 2009-2015), GOG was super receptive of its community and it really communicated with it; I know well, since many of my contributions were applied to the games back then.

Seriously? How inept one can be? So both the distibutor and the publisher just don't care?

Very nice. But at least somebody fixed the problem. I have a feeling this here is going to be a permanent situation... so it's now on me to save the previous installer personally, if I want access to it. And, in contrast, I heard Steam let people choose between both versions of Risen on their platform...

What about Galaxy? Does Galaxy let you chose old versions to roll back to or is it also only limited to the current version?

Mhmmm... When there isn't good service or options, we have to resort to non-official means.

Anyways, good luck.
