fishbaits: The advert is definitely getting lots of hate ;)

http://screencrush.com/ghostbusters-trailer-most-disliked-movie-trailer-in-history/
Looking at the article, has the word "hate" been redefined? There are many things I dislike but very very very few things I hate. Hate in my opinion is a very strong emotion, bordering on the preparedness/willingness to fall back to violence when confronted with the "hated" object/subject, and not being given the possibility to disengage.

When did the world become black and white again? Ah, I remember it is easier to find your way in it if you can put the evil and good labels on everything. And it is easier to govern people with those labels in the "right" places - many of today's journalists are mainly concubines of power systems, which have realized they were losing ground for their agendas.

Stryder2931: I do not understand the movie. The original was very well received by audiences. The sequel fell flat. So why attempt to do a remake? I will be skipping this one, among others. I am tired of remakes, reboots, or whatever else they are calling it.
There was a series of videos I watched not long ago talking about Sony and the Ghostbusters property. For years it was going to be GhostBusters 3, but never got going. More importantly the creator of Ghostbusters had a signed contract that he had to direct or direct say in what goes in and out of the franchise since the 80's.

Once they weaseled the Ghostbusters from the creator's contract they opted to reboot rather than continue, since getting most of the original cast was difficult, although most of them have cameos for some odd reason and are forced in there against their will.

There was also the upper management involved was a feminist who pushed to have more 'female superheros' and the like, which I'm fine with if it makes sense for it, but ghost busters and the trailer literally stunk right away to me.

I have said pretty much the same thing on many occasions. The internet crowd only thinks in binary terms, and the hyperbole is the official language. People say they "hate" everything they simply don't like, and they "love" everything they find ok.

Thank you for posting the background and providing the insight!!
Hadn't seen the trailers up until now. It feels like something is missing but I can't quite put my finger on it.
BTW exposition on a trailer? Really?

That explains a lot, thank you for passing along the info.

I like the channel is heavily based on presenting facts and not being biased; That's the impression I'm left with after watching several videos.

The entire trailer feels like a big budget spoof like Scary Movie, which is why I hate it. The humor hinted in the movie, licking the guns, everything about it feels wrong personally. Maybe they are the wrong cast, I don't know. I'd have preferred a GB3 and not a reboot with a female cast.

A 2 hour film of Bill Murray reading the paper while taking a crap would be better than a reboot with a female cast.

This is not quite right.

If they weren't pushing slapstick and went with a more serious focus... The original GB movies were actually very serious, but you also had 1-2 people who were comedy relief. Bill Murry specifically was a heavy comedy relief, not believing any of super natural but acting like he did to fit in, and be a professional (sorta).

The upcoming movie as it looks, just feels wrong. Bad casting, bad focus, and probably bad writers/director. I'd get totally bored of watching Bill Murry take a crap and read the newspaper, unless he was, I don't know, narrating himself as he's reading and what is going on in his head and it was entertaining while not trying to be overtly funny to make you laugh rather being funny.

Perhaps worse is everything Hollywood is doing is pushing Nostalgia. It worked in the past so pushing it again hopefully to get more money. I just don't see it being worth it.
Blech, they've been putting out the toys at work, so now I'm subjected to this crap on a quasi-regular basis (It'll probably become unavoidable after the new TMNT movie arrives in theaters). Strangely, they have not released the all-female team alone, even with the additional minifigures. They've released classic figures alongside them...but I'm not going to pay $20 for an "action figure". I've only seen Ray (the others sold out already), but they look very nice. Unsurprisingly, you can find a bunch of the new team at my store. Plus, the annoying trend of build-a-figure is present with the line: Rowan for the new team and the Ghostbusters logo for the original team.

Still seeing cries of sexism floating around...this movie is officially the cinematic equivalent of the controversy-courting Hatred. I'd probably play Hatred than watch "Ghostbusters". Actually, I've decided that I'll watch this movie if I get cancer, the movie's on Netflix and I'm bedridden.

I have to see that Ron Howard Moby Dick movie he was in, and Micheal Mann's Blackhat, but I know neither of those was well received. The guy seems to have bad luck.
It's good. Not memorable. But good. Based on real story kind of, they have a limit I guess.

This guy makes some very convincing arguments about why not to watch the movie.

Not sure if someone else has already posted the link in this thread. If so, please ignore this post.
For me one thing I don't like about the trailers is that the ghosts look too "live action Scooby-doo-ish" what I don't like about the fiasco is that this film has become so political that if anyone doesn't figuratively rate it 12/10 they have soggy knees & want sammiches. & as someone who enjoyed the original movies & cartoons, it's very off-putting

ATM I have a greater drive to buy the originals on disc than see this reboot

And just like Scooby Doo, the plot will end with all the ghosts being manufactured hoaxes by the evil white mayor in order to run all the minorities and queers out of town. All hail social retard activism. To show your submission and acquiescence, please give the studios your money, you filthy gentiles.

How and why Hollywood would want to take a wonderful paranormal comedy landmark film and turn it into an after school special is beyond me, but somehow they did.
More importantly, why has this thread about the televisual hell mentioned in the thread title been necro'd. Let it die a slow painful death in the dark, alone, where it belongs.
