tinyE: Eventually I realized I hated it. :P
I've purposely avoided the remake because I've got good memories of the original and didn't want to have that spoiled. Glad I did that.

What's that like? :P
Meh.

Can't complain...
Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes were actually pretty awesome I thought. Also really liked how downright mean Rob Zombie's Halloween's were. I'm not agains't remakes if they're good, there's plenty of other ones that arn't terrible.

hedwards: Wow, that was bad. It was like a bad knock off of Scooby Doo.
There's reasons as to why I've often heard (or read) that Filmation was a bad knock off of Hanna-Barbera and I don't disagree with that opinion nor your stated one.
One can only hope the movie isn't as bad as that trailer makes it look...

I think something not mentioned in this thread is how the casting decision appears to be pandering to this West Coast "diversity". I'd say that what a lot of people find wrong with it, is the implication there was something wrong with the original having an all male team.

If it really was about true diversity, they could have easily had both men and women on the team in this movie. It seems to say something that they went with all women.

Looks crappy, but OTOH, it's not UPA. Those were some stinkers. [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPA_%28animation_studio%29]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPA_%28animation_studio%29

I haven't notice anybody mention that explicitly.

It's sort of interesting that they're pandering to the women in this case. They've got a cast of women and the replacement for Janine is an extremely muscular man. And from the looks of it the replacement for Egon might be a lesbian. But that could be wrong, we've had a very short trailer to go by, so it might just be a poorly chosen clip.

UPA... now you just reminded me of those Mr. Magoo and Dick Tracy cartoons.

EDIT:
In retrospect the early UPA shorts weren't that bad, the first Mr. Magoo one reminds me of Looney Toons.

InfraSuperman: You too!
I'll meet you near the Carmes-Deschaux at noon.
Endeavor not to make me wait; for at quarter past twelve I will cut off your ears as you run.
Ah Baritsu it shall be then. I'm afraid my sword stick shall perforate your ballooning ego like a Wildian reposte to a Tory's insolence.

KasperHviid: IMHO, this movie is a work of genius.

The man-childs will hate it for having women in it in a feminist-like way.
The do-gooders will hate it for having the black female looking like something written by KKK.
The people too wishy-washy to belong in either camp can still hate this movie due to its suckiness.

Hatred is one of our strongest, most pure emotions. No matter what you hate, the chemical reactions in your brain is still the same.

This movie will thus bring about a shared chemistry in people who not otherwise feel connected. Thus, our collective unconscious will get in sync, bringing about a grand new age of love and understanding.
It's a perfect storm of suck, it could unite us all in defiance of its suckiness. NWO son. A new day dawns!

I do and it was shit too. But I had to suffer through the cartoon as a child, which is why it reminded me of that and not the original show.

Why the obnoxious comment btw?

They were style over substance. They'd wallpaper over the complete lack of substance with a ton of style. Mr. Magoo was probably the best cartoon they did and that was pretty horrible.
Heinous, heinous, heinous...

It wasn't intended as an obnoxious comment. I was trying to make obvious, to whom ever might not know, that the Filmation Ghostbusters pre-dated the Columbia movie by almost a decade. In addition to that to "add insult to injury"; after agreeing to a licensing agreement for rights to the title & general premise, which included 1% of the profit from the pictures, Columbia used "creative accounting" to deny Filmation any addition income.

I agree with that sentiment; hence my response, "UPA... now you just reminded me of those Mr. Magoo and Dick Tracy cartoons." Out of curiosity I found some of the early Mr. Magoo shorts, which weren't as bad as the later output where it seems to me that UPA were using cost-cutting shortcuts. Hence my perception in the decline in quality of UPA's later output.

The Disney Cartoonists did some UPA style shorts while Disney was in Europe. He quickly squashed that when he returned. They were great from a design point of view, but lacking in substance.

If you watch Disney films starting with the oldest to the last hand drawn ones, you'll notice that the characters start to look more and more alike as they lost diversity of facial features. And H-B had similar problems with quality as time went on where things got cheaper and cheaper.
Did anyone notice how the trailer says "30 years ago, 4 scientists..." etc., One of the original 4 was not a scientist. So sad that they did not even pay any attention to original story when writing any of this crap :(

Good ears. Nice pick up. Of course I never bought Bill Murry as a scientist anyway but that's beside the point. :P
