TheMonkofDestiny: There has to be a better trailer than this one waiting for release. I'm actually curious as to who put it together and honestly thought to themselves: "Now this will really get people excited for what's coming".
That's what worries me. I have a feeling that they did the best they could with the footage available. It's just that they were trying to make a turd appealing.

I could be wrong, and hope that I am, but I don't have any optimism if that's the best they could do for their premier trailer.
Well thankfully this trash will not detract from all the fun we had watching the first installment. That movie was fantastic and so much fun. Go watch it again and ignore this shameless cash grab from souless execs.

I wonder how long before we get feminists bitching about how men refuse to go to movies that feature female actors? Rather than the fact that the movie has a terrible trailer.
Even my wife thinks this is a terrible idea and about threw up in her mouth when I told her Melissa McCarthy was in it.

Yeah never mind the fact most people (including me) loved Melissa McCarthy in Spy. Or Prunella Scales in Fawlty Towers (she had the comedic timing of an atomic clock) or enjoyed Joan Rivers and Dorris Philler over the years. Or how Lisa Lampenelli is one of my favorite guests at comedy Roasts.

Yeah it's because we hate women and don't want them as leads.

And it totally has nothing to with the fact that new movie looks like an overbudgeted turd with a shitty script.

Morons, morons everywhere.

Considering that Anita was bitching about Batman's Waynetech ass hiding cape, I'd be very surprised if somebody doesn't start bitching about it before too long.

I loved Fawlty Towers and I can't imagine it without the women there. And isn't it Phyllis Diller?

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if you were referring to somebody else. My typographic errors tend to be more random.

See, even beyond the trailer being a turd, this is the saddest thing about the film: it'll never be judged on its own merits. If/when it bombs, no one will say "Hey, maybe we made a bad film", or "Hey, maybe we should try something slightly original for a change", they'll immediately go for "Hey, y'all are sexist!"

Just based on the trailer, I'd say the biggest problem is that they're actually trying to be funny. What made the 80s Ghostbusters work was that all the actors played it (largely) straight. Take out the gags, and you've still got a decent action horror. With this new one, I'm pretty confident that if you take out the gags, you'll be left with nothing.

Blech....

Stevedog13: Ugh, I can't even .. I mean it's just so... why!??

I'll just go with Bill Murray's reaction on this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf1HLBWw20g
One of the great things that made Ghostbusters awesome was Bill Murray's dry wit and the subtle humor that the characters used against the insane paranormal stuff going on. Women (and many modern comedians of both sexes)... how should I put this... Women don't usually do 'dry wit' or 'subtle humor' very well. Sorry, it's a sad fact. The last female comedian who understood subtlety or wit was Gilda Radner. Part of the reason she was great was because she liked to mock just how goddamn annoying and bratty ladies can be. She understood self-deprecation, sarcasm, and the enjoyment we can all get from laughing at things.

But now women have to be tough and cool. They can't exhibit weakness, and when they do, it has to be contrasted with even greater male weakness. And so... women in pop culture will continue to suck. Brought you by Hollywood, the place where they like to play with culture norms, as if society was their own private Leg-o toy box.

It's your own head, kid. Fill it with whatever you want. Me? I've had enough of this garbage. The Lady-ghostbusters can fuck right off... and take those proton menstrual packs with 'em.
Well, the nice thing about the internet is that no matter how much of a turd something seems to be, you can always count on someone dropping an even bigger one on top of it, to put things into perspective. ;)

Like anything Adam Sandler put out in the past 5 years.
Sony are deleting every negative comment about it on Youtube apparently. Having some fun with that.
I generally avoid reboots based on 1980s IPs. Total Recall, The Thing, Nightmare on Elm Street, Robocop, etc. The worst thing about them is they're not even entertaining on a bad level, they're just as bland and forgettable as unbuttered toast.

That's not reassuring. That's not reassuring, at all!
