ScotchMonkey: Well thankfully this trash will not detract from all the fun we had watching the first installment. That movie was fantastic and so much fun. Go watch it again and ignore this shameless cash grab from souless execs.
hedwards: I wonder how long before we get feminists bitching about how men refuse to go to movies that feature female actors? Rather than the fact that the movie has a terrible trailer.
See, even beyond the trailer being a turd, this is the saddest thing about the film: it'll never be judged on its own merits. If/when it bombs, no one will say "Hey, maybe we made a bad film", or "Hey, maybe we should try something slightly original for a change", they'll immediately go for "Hey, y'all are sexist!"
Just based on the trailer, I'd say the biggest problem is that they're actually trying to be funny. What made the 80s Ghostbusters work was that all the actors played it (largely) straight. Take out the gags, and you've still got a decent action horror. With this new one, I'm pretty confident that if you take out the gags, you'll be left with nothing.
Blech....
