... Wow, this is great!!!!

Just yesterday I was looking through Daggerfall Unity mods!

Becoming home to ease-of-use "megamods" for classic games is GREAT! First Gothic, now Daggerfall...

... could we see OpenMW in the future?

Hopefully this drives some traffic.

karnak1: The way Daggerfall was originally intended to be played - even including the topography, which had been part of the original programming but had been disabled due to performance issues.
Actually, the original engine has a bug with this. Normally, the topology is disabled, but if you go into the wilderness, get on your ship, then get off, you'll find that either the game crashes or the topology is enabled when you reappear.

Why it's being called the GOG Cut? This is apparently an effort of the modding community (well, except of an installer). Is there anything else I don't understand?

Anyone who knows me well, knows I don't play mods. Unless a mod fixes a game breaking bug, I don't like using them. I rarely even try HD packs.

So this now is a thing and I have to admit I find it interesting, but as someone who has never played to finish the original Daggerfall, I wonder if I should give this a go or not.

I like the old graphics, I like the pixels, I like the 2D sprites. They feel right to me.

If there is one thing I would probably prefer with this GOG Cut, is the (I am guessing) improved controls.

Daggerfall was the only game ever to fireball my PC to death, literally fried a card trying to run it. So this is a delightful way to start my day, I'm ready for an old-school rabbit hole to dive down. Also, props for a really well-done explanation and tutorial video. It's clear, thorough, and easy to watch.

It's good to start the day in my happy place. :)
