karnak1: Out of curiosity: in case you use the Galaxy client, did you notice at the time if the games also disappeared from your Galaxy games list as well as the site's Library section?
They dissapeared from my Galaxy client list of available games and I installed Arena this January from Galaxy. I also checked website for my games purchase history to see if Arena / Daggerfall were there, I don't recall seeing them previously but my history was empy as well.

Both games were added in year 2015 as a free gift bonus for Quake 1 purchase and removed some time after February 2022 from my list of available games including Galaxy, maybe even this very month, maybe even when I added the Daggergall Unity game, no idea.
Am I wrong or has the Daggerfall Unity - GOG Cut manual already disappeared from the extras? And of course I didn't download it immediately.

Exsurgent: Then, while looking through my games collection, I realised something weird: My copies of vanilla Daggerfall and Arena had disappeared. IIRC I got these two games as free goodies when I bought some other Bethesda game(s) on GOG a while ago - but at some point down the line, they must've just disappeared from my library. I'm assuming this happened when vanilla Daggerfall and Arena became available as regular free releases on the store.
I had the same issue. Reclaiming the free standalone versions restored them back to my library, complete with custom tags.

It is concerning that GOG can simply "lose" games from user libraries like that.

You are not wrong. Would you like me to send you a copy?

tfishell: Apparently some modders are not happy about their mods being included?

https://forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?p=61801#p61801

I wonder how long the GOG store page will stay up.
Jesus Christ GoG why would you degrade yourself like that?
Nice! Thanks GOG! Also good on crediting the modders! People who enjoy their mods should see if those modders have donation pages or patreons and support them.

You might want to read a couple of the reviews on the game page, specifically those of XJDHDR and magicono.

Exsurgent: I was able to re-buy both games normally, as if I had never owned them in the first place. So this isn't a case of my library "lagging behind" and the GOG backend realizing I already own the games when I try to buy them again.

This is exactly my issue. From what other users have been reporting, this is not an issue which affects everyone equally. But it's still a huge trust issue if it does happen to you.

They have disappeared from my account, but on Galaxy they show up (both for GOG & Steam). However, if I go to the store page for either of them through Galaxy it shows add to cart rather than the normal 'Go To Library/Buy As Gift' button that would be there otherwise.

thanks for pointing it out, but following the link supplied by XJDHDR to the mod forum, it appears spite is the main driver of not wanting their mods in the pack now.
there is a claim that GOG indicated they had permission from the modders, but i can't find that claim in print. was it in the video? it looks like there are no GPLs attached to these mods and they are free to download with source code, so redistributing them isn't an issue.

it seems like the same thing that went on with the minecraft modding scene thanks to FtB - modders getting fed the idea that even without a license on their mods, that people need explicit permission to redistribute regardless of credit being given. but ... without a license, you don't really get to demand much more than that you be credited for your work. since GOG is crediting the modders here, there's no argument. and I don't think adding licenses after the fact would do much besides make the modders look overly petty.
granted, I don't know much of the bethesda modding scene. I don't know if being overly petty is the norm there like it often is in the western minecraft scene.

As always, these things are open to different interpretations. I just think people should be aware of it and make up their own minds. It's easy to miss in this thread and on the game page.
