Nymes: For a beginner, which dungeoncrawler available here would you recommend?
If Torchlight can be confirmed by other Gentlemen here to be dungeon crawler, it is a good game for a beginner I would think. Sorry for jumping in the conversation so bluntly, the idea just flashed in my mind.

Nymes: I'm just asking as I am curious about the genre. So far, I have only played Paper Sorcerer, which I enjoyed although it had a clumsy UI. For me, graphics do not matter (at least not that much) but the gameplay should still be enjoyable. For a beginner, which dungeoncrawler available here would you recommend?
I would say that Lands of Lore is a pretty good start to the genre. It's not too hard, it has automapping, turn-based combat and it aged very well (at least in my opinion).

I already finished Torchlight and I would rather categorize it as a classic ARPG. Didn't like it very much. ;)
When I think of a dungencrawler, I think of a first-person, possibly grid-based RPG with a party system of some sort - so not really like Torchlight. :)
How fares Blackguards? It is on sale right now, would you recommend the purchase?
Dragon Age still continues to amaze me right now! :)

Very well, I have that one here already! When I have finished Dragon Age, I will give it a try - thank you very much for your recommendation! :)
I've finally completed Might and Magic III - Isles of Terra. Loved it even if I have to say that it was a little unbalanced when it comes to difficulty (very hard in the beginning and very easy in the end) and that the battles weren't as strategic as in the first two games (you can win most of them without using magic).

As always with Might and Magic, the story is negligible and the whole game is about exploring the world and slaying monsters. I was quite certain that I explored every square of the game, but in the end I missed one power orb (but maybe I just didn't take it and forget about it afterwards).

My final score was 1330207641.

And now I need a new game. Please choose one from this list of classic adventures:

The 11th Hour
Broken Sword
Gabriel Knight 2
Gobliiins
Inherit the Earth
Legend of Kyrandia (Book One)
Loom
Pajama Sam 2
Phantasmagoria
Police Quest 1
Quest for Glory 1
Sam & Max Hit the Road
Star Trek 25th Anniversary
The Secret of Monkey Island
Toonstruck

Amazing! Congratulations! From what I gather, it was a long game for you. But you sure made it very interesting. If usually I would pass by Might and Magic, I guess now I shall be glad to give the game a good try. Thanks for getting us interested!

yoshino: Right now I'm playing Knights of the Old Republic 2
Are you playing the game for the first time? If so, it might be a strange experience (especially compared to Kotor 1) as a whole lot of the game was cut out of the original release due to time restraints.

There's a fan mod which restores a lot of the missing content and, in my opinion, makes the game a lot more ejoyable and coherent:

Yeah. I have installed the TLSRCM and M4-78EP mods even this is my first try. I have heard a lot of recommendation for the mod.
Right now I am just exploring M4-78 after other stars have been explored.

Congratulations! Well done! It was a definitive pleasure reading through your journeys and it really got me curious to delve deeper into the dungeoncrawler genre. :)

Progress update on Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Assigned by Dessimu

Steam claims I have played for 45 hours and the game states I have completed 15% - amazing, if you consider that I picked this title up for 5€ on some sale quite some time ago. Money well spent, indeed :) I just wish such a title would be available for sale on gog... but well, one might dream.

I have fought my way up the tower of the Circle of Magi, got enthralled by a Sloth demon and ventured through the strange worlds of the Fade. Finally, I could free my party and myself and slay Uldred, who was being possessed by a Pride demon. After that, I decided to support the Mages as I needed them to help me to resolve the situation at Redcliffe Castle. There, Jowan could save Connor from the demon, yet the Arl still lies on his deathbed. The only hope left now is the Urn of Sacred Ashes, which I have to find.

Yet I decided to travel to Sulcher's Pass, where a merchant gave me a control rod for a golem located in the village of Honnleath. Arriving there, I slew the darkspawn and rescued the young daughter of my namesake from yet another demon - which had, amusingly enough, taken the form of a cat called Kitty. :)
Afterwards, I could recruit the golem Shale to the ranks of my companions, joining the elven assassin Zevran, who just recently tried to kill me ;)

From there, I traveled to the Frostback Mountains and back to Redcliffe to reclaim Sten's lost sword. Now, after arriving in Orzammar, there are difficult political problems to solve, as the old dwarven king has died and succession remains unclear. After some considerations, I have decided to aid Harrowmont in the struggle for the throne and will enter the Proving Grounds tomorrow.

Cheers!

First progress update on Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars:

I read a lot of negative stuff about the Director's Cut and so I decided to play the original version instead. Depending on how much I will like this game, I might play the Director's Cut in the future.

Graphics are not as bright and clear as I remember them, but the cartoonish style aged very well and so they still look nice and work very well for this game. Voice acting is good, but the volume level is quite unbalanced and sometimes some sentences sound as if they were spoken completely out of context (probably because they were recorded completely out of context).

The one thing that really stands out is the writing. Even small side characters have their own characteristics and talk and act in their very own way which makes them and the whole world much more believable. The story is quite dark and feels a little rushed at times, but so far it was also well written and I haven't encountered any major flaws or illogicalness.

Puzzles are light by now, don't know if they will get harder. And I was quite surprised that it's possible to die when you do something wrong. Think I will save more often in the future.

When I played this game for the first time (~1998) that was quite a shock... Back then, starting with the LucasArts games, being able to die in a point-and-click adventure had become a real rarity...

Yes, that was exactly the reason that I was surprised. I've played a lot of the old Sierra adventures where you died every five minutes (or even more often in Police Quest 1) or could reach dead ends easily, but at time Broken Sword came out, it was quite uncommon (especially in mainstream adventures). And if it still happened, you normally got five warnings not to do something that stupid before you really died. Here I walked out of a door and was suddenly dead.

Ha! The hotel...

Still this is one of my favourite point-and-click adventures. The atmosphere is great. The puzzles are good (except for the goat...). And I love how they implemented all those little history lessons about the Knights of the Temple (which are pretty accurate!).
Progress update on The Chronicles of Riddick

Well, I just finished The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and I must say that I'm preety impresed.
I liked the game because it was a challenging, but not to much (played it on normal difficulty) and you couldn't just go there and kill everyone "Rambo style" becaust this would just have you killed, insted you need to use stealh. I would liked it more if it had more puzzels, but at least it had some sidequests.
I almost forgot to say that I loved the voice acting :-)

I would have finished it earlier, but I started playing a lot of Dota 2 (bought compendium)

Next up: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
