So there is no one left who has walked on the moon.

I think Buzz Aldrin might disagree with you. :P

And Harisson Schmitt.

Oh haha I misinterpreted the wording. He was "the last man who walked on the moon" meaning the most recent, not that there are none left. My bad.
And Alan Bean.

Gerin must get his news from the same places as rtcvb and Bradley. :D

I do wonder if anyone will ever go back there.

Is there really a need to?

Hasn't science determined that things like moon bases just wouldn't be feasible or am I way off here?

I hope we will. There and further. If a guy like Stephen Hawking says we need to go beyond our planet or we're screwed then I'm inclined to belive him.

Besides, I want to see actuall progress made. I want to see humanity do something impressive, damnit. It makes me sad every time I think how ma parents youth was the age of the Apollo program, and mine was/is the age of "OMG a new iPhone!"

So do I but that leads me to believe even further that the moon is out. We absolutely do need to find a new place to set up, but a tiny ball of rock with virtually zero atmosphere isn't really gonna cut it. We need to look beyond the moon.

Yeah, but I guess we need to start somewhere. But hell, I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to say if setting up on the Moon first would actually be of any use in going further. All I know is that when I was a kid I was sure by know I'd be watching men landing on Mars :P

In case you're interested: http://lunar.xprize.org/

Like the earlier X Prize, but this one is for landing a robot on the moon and doing some other stuff once there.
