I'm planning to move to Linux and I'd like to ask a few questions.

I am planning a Pop OS system in which Lutris is pre-installed.

I would like to ask if I need a GoG Galaxy client to play or if Lutris alone is enough. What good would GoG Galaxy on Linux do to me? Does GoG Galaxy have a native installer for Linux? When installing via Lutris, is there any possibility of automatically updating the game when a new version is released?

There isn't any Galaxy on Linux.

Hi, Gog Galaxy does not have a Linux version, maybe it will work with Wine, but I have never tried it. Gog Galaxy, however, is completely unnecessary for downloading and installing games. It is a long time since I used Lutris so I don't know about that. However you can simply skip any launchers entirely by using gogrepo: https://github.com/eddie3/gogrepo
In most cases, if there is a new update for your game, you unfortunately have to reinstall the game, unless there is a patch. If you do want to use Lutris I assume you will also have to reinstall the game when there are new updates, but I don't know. I hope this makes sense, if you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.

For gog games you can download them from the site like in windows and install them through Lutris or let Lutris download them for you. You can also download GOG Galaxy with Lutris and install your games.

Updating Windows games manually isn't difficult when using Lutris, when an update is available you can download the offline installer then go to Lutris select the game, select the up arrow beside the WINE glass icon and select "Run EXE inside WINE prefix ", then you can select the update file.

Lutris should be well enough for ye.

Lutris can track you game time but does not communicate with any official GOG repository so it does not track achievements or handle cloud saves.

Another Client program called Gamehub seems to have some form of achievement listing but it doesn't directly track or unlock them, one time though I was playing Mini Metro a while back on Linux and then installed the game in Windows using Galaxy and when I started the game about 15 achievements unlocked.

There is no linux client for Galaxy so you can't have those feature for native linux games, you can install and play the Windows version of those games with Galaxy on Lutris.

There is also an open source client created by the community "minigalaxy" that can launch linux games but not sure if it updade games or not.

If you want updates in a timely manner plus achievements and everything that GOG Galaxy offers, then just use Wine on GOG Galaxy. It's not the best experience, but it's probably the least laborious one.

If you do decide to use offline installers, then lgogdownloader is your friend. Apparently Lutris uses it anyway.

best way is probably just to install win10 and play there , maybe you can link wine to the gog install folder or something

maybe virtual machine can this too, ive never tried win10 on linux
