Preserve the game discs? LOL
I have floppy disks from the 80's that still work and my first PC CD-ROMs I bought in 94 still work just fine. Unless you know nothing about preserving them or are a person with learning difficulties from another planet, then the discs will be fine unless there is an accident. In which case, shit happens. Some jackass might hit your parked car, but you don't go out of your way to steal another car same make and model with yours to drive while you keep the one you bought in the parking garage to be safe.

The only reason I buy most of my games new now is that I've got options which are actually affordable. For those that don't have a lot of money because they're in school or making minimum wage, expecting somebody to plunk down $60 for a game is just not realistic. Even cheaper games are a bit of a challenge to pay for.

It's not as much of a big deal if you're married, but $60 goes a long ways towards a date. And if you're lucky, at some point they might even want to play with you.

It would be nice to be able to afford to pay full price, but it's not realistic, the cost of living around here is quite high, and the pay doesn't really cover it properly.

I can live with passing up on some titles. Throughout my gaming history I was at times very interested in some console titles but... well, I'm a PC guy. Will always be.
I can tolerate some forms of DRM, I will categorically not get games with Windows Live tied to it or UbiDRM (aka always online DRM without offline mode). I'm not against cracking games at all since I do myself too.

I don't buy used. And I don't see the point if I can just aswell pirate it instead and get a better version anyway, but I recon buying used is fine for getting yourself collector's editions or old/rare game boxes.

If you could not afford the game either way, or if the extra $13 is really make it or break it for you somehow, then I'm not really talking to you.

I normally don't use key stores, I only do it when the European price is WTF bad. An example would be Dawn of War 2 on a keyseller for €29.99 when the UK price is £29.99 and the European price is €49.99. As it stands I will always buy from a online store if the price is reasonable but there are exceptions especially in Europe where the pound to euro conversion is astronomical. And remember this is not a case of whining about $=€ this is £->€ where all taxes are included.

If I would've checked out King's Bounty Platinum with its defaulting Euro price, it would've cost me more than what it normally costs after exchange rates.

I quickly found that I could change to USD and it went through successfully. Thanks again for posting that because I've been obnoxiously stalking digi sites hoping to find a deal around $10 USD for Armored Princess and Crossworlds together.

Yeah, well that's a whole other issue. I agree that the disparity in pricing is sometimes too enormous to be justified by local economy differences.

At the end of the day I posted a link for Dead Space 2 in America being $40 already and someone countered that with a key seller from overseas selling it for a few bucks cheaper. I think that's pretty shitty, and I stand by that thought.

Back in the ninties while I was still young enough to avoid getting sued or incarcerated and wasn't earning enough bling to afford anything, I tried out all the new stuff coming out via Warez.

If anything it worked in the developer's favor though because I was turned onto a lot of franchises that I would've never gave a second glance to otherwise.

Now that there are such awesome sales on this stuff and I can somewhat afford it, I support the game companies and avoid risk of viruses by purchasing everything. Even if there were no such thing as viruses I would still want to support the small guys and a lot of those hacked copies out there are incomplete alpha prototypes anyway.

I absolutely agree with you there and for some reason D2D are quite reasonable with the EA games here. Any European can buy from the UK store and usually it's £29.99, at least it is for Dead Space 2, Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2.
