Any idea how I can make a copy of a game from Steam? Because some of the replies about them being DRMless whores kind of worries me.

If i understood the question, you can copy every game from Steam quite easily, both manually or via the backup feature included, burn them on CD/DVD or store them wherever you like, and transfer them on others machines with now problem at all.
Since they are tied to your Steam account, you need of course a copy of Steam on the second PC, logged in with the same account, before you can actually start them
