PoSSeSSeDCoW: Are Red Faction 1 + 2 worth buying for $5 if I have a fairly large backlog already?
RF 1 was a straight up generic FPS. The much hyped (at the time) GeoMod was merely a gimmick that served no real purpose in the game. It's also very short (I completed it in 6 hours according to Steam, and it wasn't like I was hurrying either).

RF 2 was a much different game, much more arcade-ish. Very fast-paced and action packed. Again, the GeoMod was a non-factor in the game. It's also extremely short at around 3 hours for me. No multi-player either. It was pretty disappointing.

RF 3 is a MUCH better game, where property destruction plays a HUGE part in the game. There's a lot of fun to be had bringing down buildings, and using various (sometimes inventive) ways to do it only adds to the fun. The game is also more balanced, and the sandbox nature is pretty appealing too.

What's the difference between GalCiv 1 and GalCiv 1 Ultimate? I already have GalCiv 1, and I don't remember/can't find any expansions.

Bah - it is still limited to 1024x768 resolution - never mind.

RowdyRodimus: Wrestling fan? Have a God complex? Wanna be a prison inmate, soccer star or music star?

All these are free now or you can get them on disc for $9.99

Here's where to download them http://www.mdickie.com/downloads.htm

carnival73: Thanks for the link. I can safely say that I have never heard of any of those games before. Lol.

Delixe: Everyone buy this, it's an awsome game.

carnival73: Looks tubular-tastic. Dual Core requirements would kill my AMD 2400+.
There's actually two other games on Steam (four if you consider Peggle and that Grand Prix simulator -yeck!) that are free - one is Alien something or other and America's Army but, once again both are too large for my processor.

avatar
jlg6184: Alright, thanks for the detailed post, as it sounds like a decent game. I'm gonna have to check out my paypal, and see what I got to work with.

carnival73: At $2 I'd gift a couple of these but I had to borrow $2 from my partner for my copy. Lol. I'm a casual security guard that gets 3 days of work a week, at the most, the upside is that if some sort of mega computer tallies up all of our stats when we die, I'll be in the top ten list of people that had to work the least.

I know how it is though, some of the most cheapest things in life become available at times when they are the hardest to afford. =D
If you happen to check out Wrestling Encore, there is a site that has all sorts of mods making it so you have over 400 real wrestlers and organizations at www.kf-80.com , I admit that Federation 08 is the better game, but just the sheer amount of awesomeness of having those classic wrestlers makes Encore a good pick, too.
Direct2Drive has Silent Hill: Homecoming 50% off ($24.99)

It includes the Altarian Prophecy expansion (noted on the game page). Didn't know about the resolution before I bought it. :( Surely there's a mod for it though?

Thanks for the news. I played Mat Dickie's games before. I *really* wanted to like them though, especially Hard Time. The game had such an awesome concept, but in execution, it was just...bleh...
God, I hope the 1.50 is worth it for Dogfighter, i'd be pretty cut if DoWII became $2
avatar
carnival73: I've played an half hour of it (been busy reinstalling and defragging all day after my recent format.) and from that half hour I would have to say that it's well worth $2 USD.

Picture Gothic (vast non linear 3D world) but with Diablo-style battle controls (click on enemy and your character starts auto attacking until death.). You steer your character with the W key to move him forward the mouse with right button held down to turn him around (might be a bit sloppy to program to a gamepad if you're like me and program most your games to be played with a dual analogue controller.).

At the beginning of the game you've got different tutor's that train you for different forms of combat like ranged with bow or spells with magic or melee with weapons just like Gothic II.

You learn different battle manuevers and spells which are hot keyed to 1-9 (I'm not sure if you can use them any other way other than clicking icons at the bottom of the screen because this is a bit wonky).

You pick up, equip and trade lots of items that enemies drop if your leveled high enough to use the items (much like Diablo).

Let me know if you're still scratching for Numen. Tomorrow is payday and I hit the ol' pawnery today so I can gift it to ya while it's still on special - hopefully it will stay on special until at least Friday. =)

Well, if it turns out to be a crappy game, I would say that it is still a good deal. Bad deals are when you spend for something digital that doesn't download right so you wind up wasting time waiting for it to download and (for those of us living in NZ) wasting your download cap for the month.

All the registry cleaners on CNET can't find where Green Man stuck Painkiller on my hard drive. =L

It's a prepaid, i'm going to refill it once my exams are over...

Yes I bought it. xabbott talked to me about how this was a last ditch effort for the devs to sell the game, so I just had to get it!

Actually, there might not be. I don't see it at: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/Master_Games_List_-_G

Granted, that doesn't mean there isn't something to be done, say at the Impulse forums, but usually if there's something that can be done you'll find it at the wgf.
Ok,

I've been given another coupon for 50% of at Big Fish Games. I've just used it and not sure if it can be used multiple times but it is worth a try. It expires roughly twelve hours from now.

JAHJA-HJW3F-4WP7N-D9Z94

If you use this for World of Goo http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/5692/world-of-goo/index.html you can get it for $4.99.

I only mention World of Good specifically because it is $20 at all the other distribution sites.

Even if the coupon doesn't work you can still get Goo for $10 or for $7 if you try out their membership free for one month.

I played some of the wrestling games and they aren't too bad. They aren't up to snuff with THQ's stuff, but that's to be expected. It's also possible that I was using the keyboard instead of a controller. The game he has "The You Testament" seems pretty interesting actually. It could suck balls, but for the price it's worth the download to find out.
