Nimnio: I don't see that option on any game's page: maybe it's no longer an option?

nmillar: Bottom left corner.

EDIT: Only seems to be available for some games, but Drawn: The Painted Tower does have the gift option.
That wasn't there before! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go yell obscenities at a bowl of caramel pudding.
Can't remember if this was posted or not before...either way -- Miner Wars (pre-order/pre-alpha) is 70% off / $13

Looks like Descent?

Yep this is going into my pre-order list. The devs are very active (I say this with 100% certainty) on their forums, and they seem to take quite a harsh stance against inappropriate player behaviour, which means the game should have quite a pleasant community to hang around. They're apparently quite humble about their game too, telling players not to shy from negative feedback.

I tried it's benchmark and game was running on my system so bad. So graphics are not good enough and optimization was really bad. Does anybody know they improve the optimization?
Din's Curse's price now permanently dropped to $19.95. It's one of the best aRPGs in the market.

New demo there as well, as noted a couple pages back.

Kabuto: Man what a waste of bandwidth and time. I download and install Area 51 but when I go to click run, it says not playable in my region. You would think the installer would have been smart enough to tell me that.

It's pretty sad that a free game is region locked.
That's... strange.

I live in Mexico. I downloaded that game and it ran just fine on my system.

That's because Mexico will be the US' 52nd state (right after Puerto Rico signs up). Nah, that's never going to happen. Hmm, I'm betting the Air Force is allowing users based on IP subnets, and your ISP happens to fall into a block of IPs that is typically US ISPs. Or they just don't care about our neighbors snagging the game.

chautemoc: Hey guys, generally free games should go in this thread. Thanks.
I agree somewhat; games that are freely (& legally) downloaded from websites or torrents from now until the Internet dies should go there. I'd ask that games that require an account to download, like Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress at GoG, or limited time offers, be kept here.

On a site note: I've heard the term for this is Freemium - free content that requires a user to set up an account - not quite Free, not quite Premium, so Freemium. Supposedly it is the hook that gets people to set up accounts. The theory is that once people are comfortable with a site, they'll start to buy stuff. For more examples of this see 'The Sims' EA store. That one in particular (along with Madden et al.) is a license to print money for EA so they can squat on all the older IP and do nothing with it. Lot of good stuff locked away under EA.
GMG has MOW Red Tide at better price (than Steam): 4.2$

Limited time is fine, but if games are available indefinitely, they'd be a better fit in the other thread. It's up to those users to keep the list up to date.

Not sure if you would know, but is this site strictly for UK users, or is it for anyone? Also the Steam games they sell, are they actually licensed to sell them? I have heard Steam can get quite irritated at 3rd party vendors selling their keys, and have been known to remove games bought through said vendors. Also (first question may answer this) but are the Steam keys region free, or only UK based?

Navagon: For those who are unfamiliar with Lackoo's concise posts, this is a Men of War sale. And well worth grabbing at that price it is too.
So it's microing troops?

Yup. If you have played Company of Heroes, instead of controlling squads as a whole, in MoW, you'll be controlling each and every soldier on that squad. More like a CoH on steroids. It's a little bit tedious and hard as hell, but so damn fun and rewarding.

More than worth the sale price if you have to ask me. :)

Anyone can buy from them (it isn't UK only).

Yes, they have sales rights for everything they sell.

1) Greenman Gaming can be used worldwide, however, they are now introducing regional restrictions. Affected games will display a message indicating such.

2) They get their keys from the publishers. So if the publisher provides them Steam based keys, then yes, they are kosher. (By the way, it is these games that are now showing regional restrictions)

3) The keys are "retail" Steam keys, meaning they are the same as the ones used for retail Steamworks games. The keys themselves are not regionally restricted, but Valve can (and have) imposed IP blocking for some regions that prevent activation of retail keys. The use of a US based VPN can get around this block.

I used a US based proxy to spend my Greenman Gaming credit on a Steam based game (basically, because I don't want to use their service anymore -- not happy with the introduction of restrictions or the 3 day activation on their DRM), but haven't tried downloading the game yet as it's showing as being 20 gigs in size so I'm not downloading that until I get my fiber optic connection in December.
