How much is it before the discount? And what's the percentage off?

bansama: As for the Frontline patches, I have downloaded the DD version of the 1.1.1. to 1.2.0. patch around 10 times now from several different sources (and at around 773 megs that's some hefty downloading) and each time I get the same problem. It simply crashes when I try to run it.
Even THQ support don't seem to have any ideas now on how to get it to work. So I simply can't patch any further than the second patch. This is why I wanted it to be 75% off on Steam in the their THQ sale, at least I wouldn't have to worry about patching that version.

bansama, Have you tried extracting the download with a zip program, like 7-zip?
Extract it to a folder and test, and even try using compatibility mode, on both the download or the extracted 'setup.exe'. Sometimes works. :)
EDIT: I don't know how your DD service is, if they check your files to run the game or what, then don't mess too much with the game files. Just compare the files extracted with the installed ones, and see if there isn't much of a problem/checks to manually patch it.

Lucibel: Yeah, I'd be interested in hearing what they say. Hmm, maybe it's true about the client, but when my files are downloaded I may try installing and activating directly from the downloaded files rather than through the client, see if that circumvents it (another forum I've read suggests you can do this).

According to EA, backups won't work for long as the games are continually updated (like the Steam client, I'd imagine) and trying to install outdated copies through EADM will just cause error messages.
Any activations are continually refunded over time, so that won't be a problem at least.
So, combine the backup problem with the lack of ability to re-download and you are looking squarely at a rental service.
I was wondering why those games were so cheap. I'll just wait for a Steam weekend deal or something. It's not like I don't have enough games to be getting on with anyway.

Just to answer a couple DRM questions, both Titan Quest AND Supreme Commander (as well as the expansions and Gold versions) are completely DRM free. The SecuROM was patched out of all some time ago.
Jesus...Red Faction : Guerrilla for 20 bucks? Prepare, bank account...you are about to be used again.
Direct2Drive Deal of the Week: Light of Altair for $5

Catshade: Direct2Drive Deal of the Week: Light of Altair for $5

That's a fairly good price, but it's nowhere near as good as D2D are trying to make it sound. Seeing as they doubled the base price of the game. LOA should normally sell for $14.99 not $29.95.
Just checked my email and noticed that I have 2 coupons which allow the user to get 50% off of Demigod.
These coupons will be valid until November 1st and are offered on a first come first served basis:
Coupon Code: DEMI-NKIK-QMSY-GOLO

I don't know whether this has been mentioned before but
Trackmania Nations Forever is free on Steam.
I heard that Assassin's Creed is $5 on Steam, but only for US.

It is already a freeware to begin with.

$5 is tempting, but it is really worth for just repetitive single-player?
Any opinions?

I got it for ten and I think it was absolutely worth it. I could climb around the city all day stabbing archers in the back if that was the only thing to do in the game.
The control scheme seems ludicrous at first, but you'll realize they actually put some thought into it once you start using it. It works well.
Oh fuck, I don't live in the US, so I can't have the deal. Ah well, I played it on the PS3.
