bansama: Other games on GG I recommend are Delve Deeper and Dungeon Defenders (pre-order).
Hey bansama check out Air Forte too if you have kids at home. I played about 10 minutes of it, and while it is very simplistic, it's quite entertaining when you have another player (or 2, or 3) joining you.
The Path is $5 again: http://tale-of-tales.com/ThePath/buy.html

Elle85: Puzzle Bots is also a very nice game, I get it on bigfish with a promo code and really enjoy it.
I get Puzzle Kingdoms at steam on last summer deal is Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords better? (sorry for noob question but i haven't play a lot of match 3 games)
avatar
bansama: Yeah, Puzzle Bots can be bought cheaper from BFG (when they issue their $4.99 coupons and so on, which is why I don't think the GG price is all that great).

Puzzle Quest is by the same folks as Puzzle Kingdoms I think, so it's basically the same thing. It is worth getting if you liked Puzzle Kingdoms, but be warned; the AI is not very friendly and some people will swear it cheats (such as me when playing the Japanese DS version which *was* bugged).
thank you i think i'll pass for now :)
Command & Conquer 4 is $14.95 at D2D today. Throw in a useless $0.99 Defense Grid map (well for me anyway since I don't own the game) and therefore the PAX code works giving a total of $10.94. Is C&C4 worth a "blind-buy" at 10.94 despite it's harsh deviation from past C&C entries?

No. Seriously. It's a lazy insult to the series.Add to that the UbiDRM and it's not one you want to be supporting at any price point.

It looks interesting, but it's not something my kids will play. Their command of the English language is basically non-existent and they can't read or write yet. I'm not going to concern them with that right now as they have to learn to read/write Japanese which is a far harder task (especially given that the youngest hasn't started school yet and the eldest only started school in March). English will come easier to them in a few years time =)

And then I'll introduce them to gaming in English!

Crassmaster: Direct2Drive daily deals :

-Crysis Maximum Edition (Crysis, Crysis Warhead & Crysis Wars) 50% off ($19.95) - US and Canada only.
-Sid Meier's Railroads 60% off ($5.95) - North America & UK only.
This D2D sale is a slap in the face for all in Europe. No daily deals on the EU site, region restricted on UK and US and the weekly offers aren't really tempting either.

I don't understand why they stopped the EU daily deals. We had them for like a week then they disapeared.

UbiDRM? It's published by EA.

But the DRM follows the exact same always online, connection interruption = unable to play the game principles. I was assuming that people were familiar enough with the concept of UbiDRM to understand what I was saying.

Welcome to D2D. The land of terrible regional pricing and regional restrictions awaits you with glistening teeth.

lowyhong: So this is what I bought: Cogs, Dungeon Defenders (which isn't part of this week's deal), Air Forte, Puzzle Bots.

Cogs looked like a mediocre puzzle game to me from the screenshots, but wow, I was sold after watching the Youtube video.
I wanted to buy Dungeon Defenders, but I don't know how it will perform and if I'll like it. Tell me how it is when you get a chance.
Steam midweek sale: Cities XL for about 5 bucks.

Before considering to get it, read the Steamforums though. Apparently the game suffers from a memory leak, which hasn't and won't get fixed as the developer Monte Cristo went out of business.

Well that explains the sale. Monte Cristo sucks. If you read the forums, they responded by saying they had no intention of fixing the issue and that it may get resolved in the new 2011 version. Their best line was when they said avoid memory leaks by closing all other programs and background tasks. Do they think we're morons. That's not avoding, that's merely delaying the inevitable. At least put in an effort to reduce memory leaks like Microprose did with Falcon 4.0.

Actually, the devs say that a demo should be out before the release day, so you might have the chance to check for yourself. Keep an eye on the official website for the game.
I'll wait for a Sim City 4 sale. Not that I played it. The last Sim City I played was the original twenty or so years ago but my guess is the 4th iteration of it is a more faithful adaption than this Cities XL thing.
Asides from the memory leak, the biggest problem with XL will be that the multiplayer side of things was shut down. And the single player was intentionally gimped in regards to prices on the market to ensure that people would play the multiplayer portion.

As much as I enjoyed the previous offerings in the series, I won't be wasting time or money on XL.
