Borderlands is very good, but I don't know how people manage to play more than one full playthrough. That ending just....destroyed me.

How so? I don't really remember what happened...

I had no problems with the ending (I'm now playing the DLC), and I'd have no problems playing again. It's a great game.
I have a retail copy dammit. I said this last time Borderlands + DLC on sale. I don't want to have to rebuy Borderlands on Steam for the discounted DLC, argh!
Oh well, hopefully I can grab that disc with the first 2 DLCs cheap someplace, and get Knoxx for full price.
I wouldn't mind playing Borderlands again, never actually got to playing it online though. Maybe we can organise some games?

trusteft: I don't remeber if it was mentioned but Total War Napoleon and the new Alien vs Predator are at half price at getgamesgo. I got the AvP, you get a cdkey to activate the game on Steam.
49.99 euros at Steam, about 15 euros at getgamesgo.

Yep, I mentioned it here but only Navagon answered.

Navagon: You are Empty is actually very good for a fairly straightforward FPS. The art direction is head and shoulders above most other titles of the time. I loved the style of the videos.
The architecture does a lot better job of depicting an eastern European city than HL2 did. In fact, even now there are few titles that have done such a brilliant job on city architecture. It's no surprise the youtube for it focusses on the level design for 90% of the time.

Really? Is the art direction that good, just the engine and models/animations being cheap?
"even now there are few titles that have done such a brilliant job on city architecture." - I'm interested, if you can mention what are the other few titles?

trusteft: Regarding You Are Empty, don't forget it comes with STARFORCE.

Starforce for a less than $2 game? now that's stupid.
avatar
Delixe: Steam has just added Borderlands and all DLC at 66% off.

Again? :p
I take it none of you have an extra copy of Borderland for me? Fucking censorships ruins any deal for me.

Too late, too tired to explain. It's just so lame the whole last few "levels".

trusteft: Ah, I misread your post. I was thinking destroyed you as in emotionally, because the ending was so devastating.
This makes more sense.

Here are some cut scenes from the game.
GG's own youtube of the game will give you a fairly good idea of the architecture. Although it seems to miss out some of my favourite bits.
As for other games with good architecture, one recent example is the colony city in Assault on Dark Athena and Bioshock, naturally.
That's what I meant, but not because it is so good and depressing at the same time lol.

angstrom: In the GamersGate sale, Spellforce Universe cost $15, but Spellforce Platinum and Spellforce 2 Gold together (bought separately) cost only $10.
What?
avatar
lowyhong: That's what I thought too.
Btw the pages for the Spellforce games don't indicate their DRM. Does this mean they're DRM free?

They should be. I bought Spellforce 2 Gold and have it downloading right now, so I can let you know when it's installed. :)

Thanks man, will watch 'em. It's better that it doesn't include every bit, so I won't spoil all of it. :p
And now I got an excuse to buy Dark Athena then, even if it has limited activations.

Thanks! :)

Absolutely no third party DRM wrapped around the executable. the only thing is a serial key, and that doesn't pop up until the game is actually loaded to the main screen, so it's integrated with the game...it isn't some 3rd party app.

OK, watched those two trailers/images and the architecture in it looks really good, might look even better at a higher res. Good cutscenes, too.
Gave me a impression that this could be a better game à la Cryostasis or Penumbra, if they gave it one or two more years. The environment is already there, just fill it with the suspense or horror, a slower gameplay; and they already had the cutscenes in a different mood.
But no... they decided to put cheap enemies in and make it a generic shooter with good looking buildings. And isn't that nurse from the Painkiller games? :p
Vivisector is from the makers of Cryostasis so might be a good game too, although it has beasts/monsters. I've never played El Matador, but it looks like a cheap version of Just Cause.
