Societies is somewhat lacking if you're looking for an actual Sim City game. But as far as watered down city building sandboxes go, it has some charm to it. So if the price is low, it may be worth picking up to mess around with when you don't really want to think.

You're definitely far better off with the Deluxe Edition of Sim City 4 than Societies. Societies trades massive amounts of content for some slightly prettier graphics.
Red Alert 3's graphical style looked like little toys battling it out. I know it's not meant to be serious, but there's a sizeable canyon between tongue in cheek and Toy Story the RTS.
That's just a personal preference, but I could recommend no end of better RTS all the same.

Well, if Societies is cheap, you might want to get it; but I'd suggest you look for the demo first -- there should still be one available somewhere on the 'net.

Dang, SimCity 4. When I was a kid I played the original SimCity all the time (that and SimEarth - are these weird choices for a kid?). Some of the computers at school had SimCity 2000 on them. I haven't played those games in a very long time, though. How do the new ones compare?

Finally I bought sth from D2D US promo, only this interested me titles aren't region restrictred. Battlestations Pacific and X-Com pack. 5$ for each is almost half-free :-). Too bad UFO games aren't present at GOG...

Not THESE Prima guides... but I do have Prima's guide to Master of Magic. It is four hundred and sixty-two pages long. :)

That's damn long for master of magic. I'm looking for a good Civilization IV guide...but I've never bought any guide, they're a bit overpriced for a pdf file i think.
