Grargar: I'm not sure if someone has pointed this out, but Desura finally shows whether a game is DRM-Free or not and whether it provides a Steam key.
I think this is true only for the sale page. I couldn't see any sign of notice in other parts of Desura that shows a game whether it's DRM-free or not. And like Indie Royale, what they say is mostly misleading. For example I entered the game page of "Legends of Persia" (which has only a "Windows icon" on the sale page), and when I looked at its standalone files, I saw a file named: "Lop_Master_DRM_free_with_out_installer.zip". So, most probably the game is DRM-free but we just can't see it on the sale page!! A typical IR/Desura move!

No, see you have to get the Amazon apps app (it's the orange one with "apps" on it), not the Amazon store app, which is different.

Grargar: Desura has some new deals as part of their Cheapend promotion. Notably, Will You Reach the Final Exit? is completely free for purchase for the next 2 days. Also, I'm not sure if someone has pointed this out, but Desura finally shows whether a game is DRM-Free or not and whether it provides a Steam key.

Any idea if it's possible to 'claim' the free games and add them to your Desura library without installing the client? I've been able to claim gift codes in my browser before, but when I try to click on the button to "buy" a free game, it just brings up a pop-up with a button to use the Desura client to install it, and it doesn't add it to my game list. :/ And even if I install the Desura client will I have to download it now to get it for free, or can you just add it to your library for future use like free GOG games?

Got it sorted now, just had to follow a link and re enter my address and payment information for some reason. I got sonic 2 and dungeon hunter 4 :) tried to get CLARC and a couple of others but they wont work on my device (samsung galaxys 2) guess I'm due an upgrade! I use a network called giffgaff though which is by far the cheapest (its kinda like the GOG of mobile phone networks) but its all sim only and you have to buy the phone yourself.

Nice one for the tech support! :)

Unfortunately, I don't think you can claim a temporarily free game without resorting to the Desura client. You won't have to download it immediately when you add it and it will even appear on your account's library later, thus you can use the client only to claim a free game and then never use it again. Keep in mind, though, that if you uninstall the client, you will also remove those free games from your account.

Ah, thanks for the info. It's a bit bizarre that the games are tied to a specific installation of the Desura client, but oh well.. I'll take a look and see if there's anything worth it. :)

I think you can add the games to your account regardless of whether they work for you; at the very least, you can keep the games in your cloud till you can play them. Glad you got it working, though!

The client warns you that you will lose those games if you uninstall it. I tried it a while ago when Cubicity was offered for free and when I uninstalled the client, Cubicity was nowhere to be seen on my account, neither did it come back when I reinstalled the client.
