As this week's Weekend Deal, Steam is offering the entire Hitman saga (minus Hitman: Contracts) for a mere $10 (1$ = 1€ as usual).
I hate this kind of deals. They tempt you with an excellent pack of games and a low price, but you have to accept Steam's DRM in games that for its age belong here in GOG, complete with additional materials and no DRM at all. Damn big publishers...

Steam's DRM is its Achilles heel.
I'm a big TF2 player, so I have it on a lot, but after realizing how it spies on you, hides stuff (the Left4Dead free trial left -5 gig- of stuff on your drive after it "uninstalled") and won't let me let my kids play without screwing up my stats (buy another copy?!?) Well I've walked away from a lot of purchases on Steam because of Steam.
In the meantime, in the year since GOG has started I've bought way, way more games than I ever intended. And it basically all boils down to the DRM policy. I'd just rather do business with GoG, and honestly at this point. I would be perfectly happy if GoG -didn't- focus on old games, because I'd rather buy everything here.
GoG may have started for old games, but they really opened the door on a much larger issue, DRM, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that that is what's behind a substantial number of the purchases here.

But that's kind of the point; it's -not- old. GoG is onto to something new (sorta) in that, while most of the industry is rushing headlong into to ever-worse consumer-hostile copy protection schemes (Sony rootkit? PSP Go? 3-install only titles? Gameguard? Online required for single-player games?) here's GoG going exactly the opposite direction, and I think it accounts for a non-trivial part of their success.
So if you're rooting for GoG, jump on the DRM bashing bandwagon, 'cause it's working for them, and it is newsworthy.

One to add for Gamersgate (it wasn't mentioned in their email)...the Gold Edition of XIII Century is 38% off (yeah, weird number). It's supposed to be a half decent tactical RTS.

Don't know if this applies in all countries, but EA (boo! hiss!) have a few games for £4.99 each
- Mirror's Edge
- C&C Red Alert 3
- Burnout Paradise
- Dead Space
- Mass Effect
On top of this, I saw in another forum that pasting VoucherCodes.com25% will get you further off games in the EA store. I just bought a couple of games for £3.74 each :)

I just downloaded the free "The Suffering" (had a hard time findinga working copy...some sites have removed it), and I have to say, it's been a long wait, but well worth it.
I think this might be one of my top 10 games of all time.
