Rohan15: Well, as with my shitty luck, Thief: DS will not launch. Oh well, I'll test it on the other 2 machines in the house.

Navagon: What OS are you using? I just tried to reinstall a retail copy on my Win7/64 desktop and the bugger just crashes. I will be trying various tricks to get it to work, but the point is that it's certainly not down to a GPU deficiency.

There's a thread on Steam forums to aid with 7x64 compatibility. Both of you should check it out.
I purchased Thief in this sale and it works running 7x64 without any tweaking.

Vista. Running i as an Admin and compatibility doesn't work.

I tried the following and got it working:
- The advice at Steam. This wasn't perfect for me, but with a bit of reinterpretation it pointed me in the right direction.
- Using Runfirst, along with a bat file with the following code:
runfirst t3.exe
Place the bat and runonce in the T3/System directory and create your shortcut to the bat file.
- Setting the game to run as admin and XP SP3 mode. I don't know if this helps much though.

Thanks! It seems to have helped.

Lucky. Ion Launcher doesn't work with the version I have. Still it works now anyway. Oh and get the high res textures linked to via the Steam thread. If nothing else it replaces the crappy menu screen.
anyone posted this yet ?

Nevermind. It worked, and now I can't launch it. FML.
War games sale on D2D:

Additional weekend deals on D2D: Ghostbusters, Civilization 4, Bioshock 2, some Call of Duty bundle, and The Witcher.
Has anyone actually played played Ghostbusters on PC? I've been wanting to play it, but I still have unanswered questions about performance, controls, and DRM.

The game box says online activation required. I think it's securom with 5 install limit and revoke tool to deauthorize a machine. It's a poor port and they removed multiplayer co op from the console versions. I was advised against it at $4.00. With that being the case it certainly doesn't seem worh it at $9.95.
There's also some problems if you don't install it to the default directory stated during install.
I'll let someone else answer the gameplay part.

I would suggest reading the RPS pseudo-review. It basically covers my feelings on it as well (one of the things that made me realize how much I like them :p)
In the movies, the proton packs weren't precision weapons. There was a lot of "walking" the beam onto a target. That makes for great cinema, poor video gaming.
Imagine if you were playing an FPS and were forced to carry the heavy machine gun like people ACTUALLY carry those (when they feel the need to carry them). Hunched over and at your waist. The heavy machine gun goes from super-fun toy to a bit less than optimal.
And now imagine trying to take out tiny little speedy candlestick bastards with that...

The PC version has a bunch of features taken out. Can't remember which. I believe MP is one. Sounded pretty rough though.
Gundato, it took me a while to figure out what rps pseudo review meant. I don't mind acronyms but that one isn't exactly common I find.
Anyhow, if anyone else is confsed he referred to rock paper shotguns (thanks wiki), a gaming website.
Here are two rps links referring to the game with one featuring an absolutely ridiculous reason why Atari scrapped multiplayer on the pc version:

multiplayer response:[url=]http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/06/19/whats-going-on-with-ghostbusters/[/url]
As for the installation issue, several files don't install if installing to a custom directory. Atari's solution is to stupidly install the game twice and copy the missing files to the custom directory installation. It seems releasing a new downloader or a replacement disc never crossed their minds. It would have been the least they could do for a poor port.
