Navagon: Looks like GMG has damn near gone under already. :P

michaelleung: No kidding. When I try to login I get a gateway error.
No, it works now.

Every other click on the site is a 505 Gateway Error for me. Worst experiance on a site ever.

Their customer support is actually really good. Just wanted to say that.

Weird... I can't se Tropico 3...they seem to have removed it. Safest bet is to buy an expensive game an dtrade it in later...

Worst part of it is: you need the client active to run the games. But unlike Steam you can't create shortcuts and it won't even remember your login details. And that's if it's working properly. Yeah...
Either GMG is going to improve rapidly over the next couple of months or it's going to disappear within the same time frame. I'd guess the latter, given its inability to keep up with demand and that it still has an advert from the launch deal on the Games List page.

Even if you were aware of it from the start you could still have missed out. That's how bad it's been. I'd be amazed if they're making any real money with a service like that.

No kidding between BT being crap today with my internet and that site just giving errors all the time I didn't manage to get the game I was after.

I only just managed it. It looked like an incomplete entry on my games list for a while. Very dodgy.

That's because they only have a limited number of each game. Once all the keys are in use, it's no longer available to purchase. You then have to wait for someone to trade it in, or for GMG to buy more keys.

I got a free game off GMG. Well, i think i did... it's in my account. I'm gonna give it a few days before I start downloading. Didn't have any troubles signing up and buying it.
Don't want to go off topic, but to be honest I'm a little confused at all the complaints at GMG... they're a new service, they had a great deal, they got overwhelmed by demand. And people are all rushing to download their multi-gig games at the same time on the same day as the offer.
It seems like a reasonable idea that needs a bit of polish... and if the worst comes to the worst and it doesn't work, oh well... i haven't lost anything. If it works ok I can trade it in and get something else cheap. No lose for me... just be patient and give them a break.

The problem is their announcing 'come get a free game!' to the Internet when clearly not having the infrastructure in place to deal with the type of crush they should have realized would come with such an announcement. I mean, is this the sort of issue that's going to come up every time they offer such a sale?
That being said, they have Theater of War 2 available for about 40% of what it costs anywhere else, so I am fairly likely to try them out.

English company. Desperately understaffed. Still I talked with their support and it was top notch. Yes you are allowing SecuROM on your PC and you need their client to run stuff but it's not that bad considering you can trade games in.

Delixe: ...and you need their client to run stuff but it's not that bad considering you can trade games in.

From what I've seen so far, you only need the client to download and install. They don't make shortcuts for the games or anything on your desktop or in the start menu, but make your own shortcut and you bypass the need to use the client to run the games (tested with both NecroVisioN Lost Company and Dark Sector).
